Good spy parody , but not great.
I have watched spy hard a few times and I finally decided to review it. My reviews are always honest , unbiased and pretty througho. Anyone that watched leslie Nielsen comedies know that he borrowed his slap stick humor from the three stooges. Eye pokes , slaps and dropping items on people's head. I'm exactly critizing , if you are going to borrow an idea , borrow it from someone's who perfected it. Spy hard has some funny scenes and some that way to hard to be funny and some straight out stupid. Leslie Nielsen playing a bumbling spy didn't work out well as planned. The scene from speed , the bus ride was kinda cool and tried to be funny but was a little lukewarm. The hotel fight scene was more corny than funny. Dick and Veronique trying to be bruce Lee and the three stooges combined. Nichollete was pretty hot In the movie . Great figure , nice backside , the mini skirt at the airport scene was proof of that. Thuy trang had way to small of a scene for such a beautiful woman with some experience on her belt. Andy griffith playing a villain role general rancor ,couldn't be taken really seriously seeing he played as Sheriff Andy Taylor. A small town sheriff in a peaceful community and being everyone's friend.and local dispute solver . General rancor and dr evil aren't wholly evil more like a couple of boobs that are trying to convince the rest of the world they are evil and threatening. The director who was I guess was supposed to be Q was kinda of an overweight boob. Miss cheevus is supposed to be a more seductive and horny Miss moneypenny. The guy driving different cars in each scene was pretty funny. Spy hard is pretty funny but not the best spy parody or comedy , Austin powers and Johnny English are better . Leslie Nielsen was a good comedian mixing the three stooges with his own brand of humor and a touch of suggestive or borderline adult sexual humor. If you are a leslie Nielsen fan and or you are a fan of goofy , corny and slap stick humor you should watch this movieAnd own the dvd In your personal movie library

Among the most funniest films out there with a few exceptions.
Just like with all the Naked Gun Trilogy, on a count of all the site gags, unorthodox comedy, slapstick, and the kind of blunt person that Leslie Nielsen was always gifted with being in his older years, and not to mention having a famous old time star like Andy Griffith have the role as the main villain, and the kind of role that a child most well known for playing Dennis the Menace just several years before this plays in this kind of film, and of course the cameo of Weird Al Yankovic and the whole deal with him during the beginning credits, this is a great comedy even to the level where any of it could cause you to laugh so hard as to bring tears to your eyes. But, just like with the Naked Gun trilogy which also starred Leslie Nielson and with the same kind of role and personality, the only problem with it is the magnitude of innuendo and any tiny bits of nudity and sexual content not to mention language that it is marred with. If not for that, it would be great to share with others who love to get huge laughs.

Great Satire!
This is always been one of my favorites. I find it funny without going over the top and Leslie Nielsen delivers the comedy in such a deadpan that you almost don't know that he's not being serious. That being said it does require a little knowledge of movies in general or many of the jokes will fall completely flat. For example if you've never seen True Lies the entire middle Chase sequence on the horse threw the hotel will make absolutely no sense. And if you've never seen Sister Act you'll have absolutely no idea why all these nuns are singing pop music.

As Funny As Ever!
Perhaps not the funniest of the Leslie Nielson comedies, "Spy Hard" nonetheless carries on the proud and hilarious tradition of his signature style of comedy - both physical and intellectual. I'd been looking for this title for a few years, and found revisiting it just as much fun as it was seeing it on the big screen so many years ago. "Spy Hard" is a perfect fit with the "Naked Gun" series films and, of course, the wonderful, "Wrongfully Accused."

In the spirit of "Get Smart," an amusing parody of the Bond and spy film genre
"Spy Hard," produced by and starring Leslie Nielson, came out in 1996 and was a very amusing parody of the spy films of the time. As the producers of supposedly serious spy thrillers are still using many of the same tropes that the film parodied more than twenty years ago, the humour has not particularly dated and I still found it funny when watching it this year (2019.)It particularly parodies the Bond films but the alert viewer will spot comic references to many other franchises including Mission Impossible, True Lies, and Speed. The formula for this sort of parody is even older: it dates back at least to the mid sixties when Mel Brooks brought out the TV show "Get Smart" starring Don Adams as Maxwell Smart, which spoofed the spy thrillers of the 50s and 60s in the same way that "Spy Hard" spoofs those of the nineties. But Leslie Neilson and the makers of this film had a much tougher job to make the comedy work than Mel Brooks and Don Adams: the sixties show was spoofing films which took themselves more seriously, where by comparison "Spy Hard" was taking off films which themselves included a large element of self-parody.To work this film has to be about one level more ridiculous than the films of which it is a parody, Too similar and it won't be distinguishable from the tropes it sets out to parody: exaggerate too much and it will descend into slapstick farce. To the credit of the cast they largely get this balance about right, though in places they go over the top.My favourite section of the film is actually the theme sequence performed by "Weird Al" Yankovic at the peak of his form.If you like well crafted parodies, you will very probably enjoy this film.

Super spy Dick Steele saves the world from a mad General. Probably Leslie Nielsen's last good funny movie this Bond spoof though Mike Meyers and the Austin Powers movies would do it better a few years later is a silly and amusing film worth watching just for Leslie Nielsen. The film also spoofs other hits including Pulp Fiction, Speed, True Lies and Sister Act that could seem dated and go over the heads of younger viewers and while this isn't Nielsen at his best it's still amusing and worth a look with some fun cameos.

Subtlety Overboard!! (Over-bored!)
Spy Hard: DVD Release Date: 12 Feb. 2001As with all things, time scale (duration) is of the essence: this film simply fires off all over the place and is of a seemingly interminable length so that it quickly becomes a pain in the neck.Nielsen has aged since his earlier adventures in Police Squad and not to his credit. Simply too much physical sex innuendo and more, and frankly (he is Frank in the earlier films) the thing is not worth the effort..Watch "Alice in Wonderland" instead.
