The SunFocus hybrid solar oven will draw the same wattage approximately (465w at 110v.) on either low or high setting. Temperature is controlled by two internal thermostats. The low setting internal thermostat is preset to cut out at 250F. and the high setting internal thermostat is preset to cut out at 300F. The SunFocus hybrid solar electric oven will cycle off and on while maintaining the low or high temperature range selected.

about how long to cook a loaf of bread?

Janie, Interesting question. I haven’t baked bread in quite some time. In the past however, I made up the dough and let it rise overnight. Next day I preheated the oven under full sun for 1/2 hour. Then placed the punched down bread in a bread loaf pan in the oven along with a small tray of water and closed the oven glass leaving a small space to let the breads proofing steam to escape. Once the bread had again risen I removed the tray of water and then let the oven reach full temperature. In full sun - mid-day the bread would take about an hour for the top of the bread to turn golden brown. If I used the electric backup as a faster cooking assist the bread baked in 30-35 mins. If my memory serves me.

I have had 2 solar ovens both with back up electric heat if you lose sun power. This one is the BEST YOU CAN BUY. All solar ovens should need a TURN TABLE. So I got one for a big tv. Now it is easy to trun it onto the sun for MAX HEAT WHEN NEEDED. I give this oven 5 stars. It is worth every dollar. Have fun cooking when you are not even there.
