The Horrell Wars: Feuding in Texas and New Mexico (Volume 15) (A.C. Greene Series)

Enjoyed this book
I thoroughly enjoyed this book although Mr. Johnson comes across as an apologist for the Horrells. There are not many winners in this book, not the Horrells, the Higgins, New Mexicans, innocent women and children, or the city fathers of Lampasas - maybe just a few Texas Rangers. Still, Mr. Johnson lays out a carefully researched picture of a time and place in frontier Texas that was pretty darn wild and, at times, very dark and ugly.

Since we are from Lampasas County and have read just about every book on this subject, we very much enjoyed this book that is the most detailed book we have ever read on this famous group of people. Good book.

Great historical study
Great Book with a lot of work done getting the facts. Kind of strange seeing the Horrell family as "normal people" instead of crazed killers I heard about. Worth it if you want the truth.

An excellent book for any historian on the Texas Wars or Feuds. I knew some of the Horrell relatives in Arizona.

Johnson, a Johnson.
The author seemed prejudiced in favor of the Higgins family. He essentially said the Horrells deserved what they got. There was a lot of historical information provided that could be corroborated but I was turned off by the author's obvious prejudice.
