Easy to change, works great on a 10 year old Ashfield kitchen faucet 5297YP, new part is black and old one was white, fits great
This is exactly what I needed for my kitchen faucet that is about 10 years old (Ashfield line), model 5297YP. The parts breakdown says the cartridge is #974-074, and this is definitely the correct replacement (even though this new part has an extra 0 at the end). Also note that the color has changed from all white to black with a white bottom (as shown). The issue I had was the handle to the faucet sometimes would slowly drop down and turn on the water (at least a trickle). So I needed a new cartridge to fix the "loose" handle problem. In the photo, the old cartridge is on the left, and new one on the right.Changing this was super easy. First, make sure the water is off. The toughest part is finding the right size allen wrench (hex wrench) to remove the handle, but that is fairly easy (just put the wrench in the small hole on the handle and unscrew the screw attaching the handle to the end of the cartridge). Once the handle was off, I unscrewed by hand a cosmetic cap (in the photo see upper left round part) which exposed the locking device (brass, shown in the photo on the far right). That is removed with a large pair of pliers (just grip it "head on" on the two flat surfaces and unscrew it using pliers or pair of vice grips). Once that locking device is unscrewed, you just pull out the old cartridge and put in the new. On mine I DID need to use a screwdriver to remove the old seal (now a light blue on the new part, was red on the original part, again, see photo bottom left for the old red gasket that I had to gently scrape out of the internal workings of the faucet). Assembly is just the reverse - pop in the new cartridge (has two nipples that force the correct alignment), screw in the brass locking mechanism and tighten it (not too tight or you can damage the cartridge), screw on the outer cosmetic piece by hand, put the handle back on, use the hex wrench to tighten down the screw that holds the handle onto the cartridge, and you are done!In summary, I'm very happy! Thanks for reading :-)

Super easy install that resolved my leaky tap
I had a leaky faucet that was creating a puddle on my counter... and of course it was just before a two week vacation. I managed to YouTube what could be the problem, then used Google Lens to figure out what the part was. My local big-box home store needed a week to get the part, Amazon was able to overnight me the part. Meaning I could repair the faucet before my vacation!Go Amazon, and your fast shipping!! The product was a perfect fit and resolved my problem, with a super easy install.5 out of 5 stars for the product, availability, and super fast shipping!

Got to me quickly, worked perfectly
- Took a while to find the match; but once I did, I ordered it and it came right away (before I could even get around to fixing the faucet!).- The array of pictures helped me confirm it was the right part for sure.- The price of the part was WAY less than a plumber.- It worked the first time... no leaks, no adjustments.- Not sure about sturdiness. I expect this to last a few years at least though, as the previous part did.

The right one
The delivery was delayed, but arrived in a reasonable time, and seller reported the delay and updated the delivery time accurately. Only one type of cartridge works for our faucet, and this was it. I don't know how scarce it is, but, I was able to determine this was the right one for our Pfiser faucet without much difficulty on Amazon. Even including tax, the price was less than half what it would cost from the nearest (10+miles) plumbing supply store that carried it. The installation process was made simple by viewing YouTube videos that described it in detail. The only issues were removing the handle (it was stuck and needed to be pried off) and replacing the set-screw for the handle (pretty difficult because of its location), but these have nothing to do with the cartridge, which fit easily and does not leak.

Phiser Bathroom Faucet Cartridge
What can go wrong with original parts. The Phiser faucet cartridge fit right in and fixed the faucet control arm from slowly closing when the faucet was On.
