Q: How many teaspoons would equal a pod

Guessing from the size of a fresh pepper compared to dried flakes, I would say around 3 teaspoons. I really would not recommend starting off much. One teaspoon slow cooked into a pot of chili is a lot of burn if you're used to habanero peppers for example.

The Carolina Reaper tops out at over 2 million SHU. The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion around 1.2 million and the Ghost Pepper is near 1.1 million. The Carolina and Scorpion have a slightly sweet taste and the burn is instant. The Ghost Pepper has a natural smokey flavor and the heat slowly builds. Hope this helps!
