This is a big mat made of heavyweight vinyl. We have a place with carpeting about 26" in front of a fireplace, and frankly that is barely enough distance to protect the carpeting. Purchased this not for under a grill or firepit, but for atop the carpet, and it has been a champ at both protecting the carpeting and resisting burning embers. In fact, it's unscathed by burning embers, even oak and other hardwood -- no melting or any response (unlike "inexpensive" hearth rugs, which typically *do* melt). Heavy, too, no edge curl or other issues one might encounter with a lighter mat. And of course for what it is and does, it's much less expensive than a woolen or fiberglass hearth rug. We do not bring it right up to the fireplace, as it's not a good idea to expose PVC to high temperatures for long periods, but at 20" from the fireplace it stays cool and protects the rug. Good buy -- although unfortunately the price has increased by almost $10 since we bought this <8 weeks ago.

Our covered patio has a vinyl plank floor that we wanted to protect from dripping grease, dropped hot food/utensils, etc. This mat is perfect. It comes in a roll so it takes a while to flatten out (the photos were taken on the day we put it down - it lies flat now). It’s thick, the color goes well with our floor, and it doesn’t shift or move around like a previous mat we had. I have bought under-sink mats from this company in the past and am very happy with the quality and recommend them

Good size for my Lynx natural gas grill. Heavy duty and allows me to move my grill over our brick patio without bouncing. Perfect and highly re.

It looks very shiny when on my patio floor. It looks as if it would be easy to clean but only time will tell if it will last. Very happy with it so far.

I purchased this to go under the bbq to protect it from grease splatters and add a fire protection to the deck. It matches the colour of my deck so that is a bonus! It works perfectly for my purpose.

I needed a mat to catch battery acid drippings from hitting my blacktop driveway from my Golf Cart. I park my golf cart inside a carport that covers a part of my blacktop driveway. The battery acid will sometimes drip over onto the blacktop and eat at it. Because this carport is open and not like the inside of a car garage, I knew I needed something heavy enough to not blow away, thick enough to allows lay flat, and strong enough to block the battery debris. Most of the ones I saw on Amazon were thinner and more vinyl or plastic than rubber. This mat is thick enough to lay flat, and not blow away, and to also look strong laying there. Almost reminds me of a door mat but not as thick. You can walk up to it and even step onto it, without feeling you need to be careful or avoid it. I'm very pleased with this product. Speaking of laying flat. Most complaint I see about the other mats available are that they arrive folded up and take a while to lay flat and get the fold humps out. This thicker, rubber-like mat arrives rolled up. It unrolls easily and within a few minutes of putting it into place, all edges were laying flat against my blacktop driveway.
