Does it work in fish tank? I want to stick one end out a window near by to take out fish water? How long are the hoses?

I used it to transfer diesel fuel I suppose it work fine for water

Plastic. I Planned on using it to get gas from my cars for a generator. I did not know that cars today are built so that a syphon hose will not pass all the way down the filler tube and cannot reach the gas. I have a 2018 and 2016 and the hose hit an area that will not let it pass any further.
