Nativity for Little Hands!
I purchased this for my toddler grandson. He literally spent hours playing with the characters that were easy for him to hold! Their bright colors and friendly designs were so cute and inviting! Not only did it gave Mary, Joseph and the baby but the animals and shepherds too! Wow! So many pieces! Music and the Angel on top just made it magical!

Perfect pre-christmas time gift for ages 1 and up!
My child has been obsessed with this set since day 1 and we are about 10 days in from purchasing this product originally, and my child is still just as obsessed! 5 out of 5, 10 out of 10, 1 million percent, A+, ect. This is a great buy for any family who is looking for the perfect nativity set for the Christmas time. I usually have a village set up (definitely not toddler friendly) and I bought my child this set hoping it would deter them playing with mine. And it's worked! If I had anything negative to say about this set, is I wish it came with a Shepherd to go with the sheep but it's really not that big of a deal. Also the song is really cute and my child literally stops what they are doing to dance lol it's so cute and I'm so happy with my purchase!

excited to give this as a gift
I purchased this during post-Christmas markdowns and have tucked it away in the closet as a gift for a favorite toddler for next Christmas. It is a beautiful set and I think it makes a perfect gift. It's a fun toy and when it is outgrown as a toy, it can be put away for use as a Christmas decoration for years to come. For all those reasons it gets 5 stars.I love that it is packaged in a white "shipper box." I think all toys ought to have this option. Most toys are packaged to look good on a shelf and when they are not being played with there is no way to store them. I hate flimsy boxes for toys. Families like to save toys from one child to the next or for cousins or even the next generation. For that purpose, sturdier boxes are most helpful. As much as I love this toy, I really wish the designers would do a little research into the background of the story and make some adjustments. The Bible story the set is based on talks about shepherds (with an S)-- more than one. But this set only comes with one shepherd. NOT COOL. And the Bible also talks about the "multitude of heavenly the heavenly host"--meaning lots of angels-- not just one. There needs to be a whole bunch of angels and lots of shepherds. I know the company sells add-on sets with additional animals and fences and rocks and another shepherd or two. But that's still pretty stupid. Creative kids can come up with their own rocks and there is nothing about the story to indicate that there were fences. Shepherds back then herded their animals together and kept them close without fences. But you really ought to be able to buy more angels and more shepherds--maybe even a couple more camels.Overall a great set but Fisher Price needs to do a little biblical research if they are going to create a playset based on the Bible.

Is that what Christmas is about, a "better" flashier manger
I did the same thing a few other people did. I ordered this thinking it would light up, play music and come in a collector box. I was surprised when it arrived in a white box and was more surprised when it didn't light up and play music. When I came back to the Amazon site to check the description I caught my error. Amazon's description is what I received, but then where did I read that it lights up and plays music....on the Fisher Price website. It comes up on their site as "Catalog Exclusive" but is a deluxe set which is $30.00 plus $6.95 shipping. The deluxe set has additional pieces, hay for the animals and some fence pieces. I read the description there, toggled over to Amazon, saw the "Exclusive" and just assumed it was the same. Tsk, tsk on my part. All in all there was no harm done. I bought this to help my friend keep her one year old daughter away from their Christmas tree and the traditional manger set. I showed it to my daughter, who is three, and she wanted to put it in her room immediately! She likes it either way. I thought of buying the deluxe set for my friend and keeping this set for my daughter, but when dealing with a manger (of all things) it just doesn't seem right to consider this product inferior. Don't feel cheated, take the $15.00 difference and buy the book "The Christmas Star" by Marcus Pfister as a companion to the manger set. Reading to a child about the star of Bethlehem, and acting out the story with the manger set, will stick with them longer than the 5 seconds they spend staring at the musical star.

Adorable and colorful Nativity set, great for families and collectors
I actually purchased this for my mother as a birthday present -- she collects Nativity sets, and she had her eye on the Fisher Price version for some time. And who can blame her? It's an adorable set, cute and colorful, and has the added bonus of being kid-friendly for when the grand-kids visit and want to re-enact the Nativity story for themselves. The pieces are well-made, cute and sturdy, and with bright colors and metallic accents. The fence pieces snap nicely into place on the stable itself or can stand alone, and the cart fixes nicely to the donkey's back. The angel can either stand alone or perch atop the stable, and there's even a button to make the star above the manger light up and play a verse from "Away In a Manger."The only downside to this set is that it doesn't come with the shepherds -- it has the Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, Jesus), an angel, four stable animals (donkey, cow, sheep, camel), and three Wise Men. Shepherds apparently can be purchased separately, as a "booster pack" of sorts. An adorable and kid-friendly Nativity set, one that my mother loves and that I find a cute decoration for the holidays as well. Perfect for families.
