Q: I’m building a chair. How wide does the groove I cut need to be, for these to fit in there securely?

When crimped down with webbing in the clip, the clip measures about 5/32". So I'd suggest cutting the groove just a hair wider than this.

Q: Has anyone used them on 1-1/2 board?

I did not use on a 1 1/2 inch board. I used it to repair an existing chair. Approximately 1 1/4 inch thick and 3 inches wide maple. It will probably depend a lot on the type of wood.

Q: I have an application that requires attachment of the clamp to a chair using a screw. What diameter is the attachment hole? Screw size #8?

The hole diameter measures 11/64". We typically use a #6 screw.

Q: How thick is the steel?

The steel measures about 1/32 of an inch or 0.75mm.
