how far apart are the two sides of the holder. Will they hold dumbells with small grips?

I have small 3lb weights and they do latch on to the end of the holders the middle I have 8lbs and the bottom I have 10lbs. I do have to load from the bottom up in order for them to fit but I am very happy for my needs. Hope that helps!

No indication anywhere on the product as to origin/manufacturer. Therefore, I have to assume China, like most everything else we buy. But it works fine with the small weights.
