They Made it Right!
UPDATE TO 1 Star Review: As I was in the process of reading over my negative review, Cuisinart's customer support phone number came up on my screen so I decided to call them. A very nice young lady named Tiffany listened to my problem and arranged to have a replacement sent out immediately. I will receive it in a few days! I know I have the backing of a dependable company who stands behind their product! Please ignore my previous negative review.I'm so disappointed in a disappointing Cuisinart product! My experience is that this wine opener must be charged before each use. I had another automatic wine opener before that held a charge for weeks and many bottle openings. I don't open wine bottles every day - perhaps one or two a week. But after the first opening, the charger went dead and I had to charge it again to open another bottle. I don't think the unit is meant to keep on the charger constantly, is it? At any rate, I had so much confidence in the brand, that once I opened the box, and set it on the charger, I disposed of the box it came packaged in. But now, I don't have any confidence in this device (which I purchased on Prime day at a good price) and will return it!

Effortless wine bottle opening
The media could not be loaded. We had been considering purchasing an electric wine opener for a while. When our manual opener was getting more and more difficult to use, it totally broke, and after seeing that the electric ones really aren't that expensive, we purchased this Cuisinart CWO-25 stainless steel opener. It's very easy to use when you completely follow the included instructions: hold lower button until it stops on its own, and then hold down upper button until it stops and the cork drops down. (See my video.) We've only had it for a week, so I cannot comment on how long or well it will hold up yet. What I like about this opener:* how easy it is to use* the sleek stainless steel design, fits in well with look of our kitchen* includes a foil cutter with a place to store it on the back of the charger* the charging cord is 6 feet long for those who need it to be so long, but it folds up neatly with a black twist tie (included) and easily hides behind the charging base

Bad Design
Don’t bother with this product. I purchased one and while it handled younger wines reasonably well, it failed completely with older bottles. The flaw lies in its design: the corkscrew’s diameter is too narrow. With aged corks or any that offer more resistance, it doesn’t extract the cork—it just bores through the center and shreds it. I held on to it despite these issues, but recently tried it again. The screw penetrated the cork effortlessly, yet lacked the torque needed to pull it free. Now it’s unusable—barely five months in—and I regret the purchase. Straight to the trash.

Electric Wine Opener
I am retrofitting my kitchen to accommodate severe arthritis in my hands. This electric wine opener suits those needs perfectly. It comes with a little device to cut the top seal off the bottle which stores nicely on the stand. The whole unit has a narrow profile so that it doesn't take up much counter space. Please note, I tried leaving it off the charging stand but found that it opened only one bottle before it needed recharging. So, I keep it on the charger at all times. Another thing you need to be aware of: You can use this as a night light too! When it's on the charging stand, the stand lights up blue. It is so bright, that I find it obnoxious at night. I place something in front of it to block the light. I wish the light could be turned off. The opener works beautifully and saves my hands from the strain of cranking the corkscrew.

Not working well or consistently with being plugged in after long charge.
The first time I used this product, I had it plugged in for more than a day, and it worked. So it had charged for a long time. I placed it in our cupboard without charge and when I used it shortly after that, the device slowed then stopped in the middle of putting the screw into the cork. I tried to pull the it out using the reverse but it didn't work so I used a hand-held corkscrew. I use the electric product because I have arthritis in my hand.I had an electric corkscrew from a different company in the past that lasted a long time, and without frequent charges. I am not happy with this item and realize that I have to keep it charged every time while using.
