Q: Any part of the grind Convex, Or is it a spear point flat grind with a bevel?

It is not a convex edge. You really want an in depth review of the knife, go on youtube and look up "dutch bushcraft knives lion steel M4 review". It will be two gentlemen that give a pretty good review of all of the basics of this knife, including edge geometry. Hope this helps.

Q: Is there a sharp enough edge on the back where the tang sticks out to strike a spark on a ferro rod?

No but surprisingly the spine of the blade still strikes just fine even with the curved edge.

Q: Why is the blade so short?

You’ll find that it handles beautifully. If you need a “survival” knife then yes you will “need” a longer blade but for 95% of uses it will be sufficient. Honestly I find it handles better than my Fallkniven S1x (which I adore btw)

Q: M390 is a very hard steel. Would Lionsteel sharpen it for me if/when I need it sharpen?

Regular stones will work, but take longer than normal. Diamond is very efficient for super steels. I recommend finding a local knife dealer to do your sharpening rather than sending it back if you don't want to do your own sharpening.
