It would be free-standing on the turf, not anchored. Not advised. Get 4 concrete footer blocks, set or anchor on those. Make sure all is level and plumb.

I put a sun cover to provide more shade on mine. With that came some ball bungees so I ran my string lights through the bungees. Made it very easy to put up and back down for the winter.

Q: Will it fit over a 7'x7' hot tub?

It is said that the distances between the columns are 9' and 7' in the other direction. I dont know if this center to center or Inside. Right now I am not on the site.But you can sure fit it sideway and the top frame is 10' X12'.This is a great buy.Good thinking
