okay, this isn't a strong box. You could smash it to pieces with a hammer no problem. But it is lockable (if you by a little travel bag padlock). I use it as a medicine cabinet. And it does look the part. Is it well made? Well, it could be made better but then it would be more expensive. You get what you pay for, and I paid for this and am happy with it

Wonderful pirate chest / Keepsakes chest. Not the sturdiest of items, but strong enough. Really looks the part and is very well finished. Really pleased with the product.

This is a very good example of the sort of object that you should NOT buy online... it is an ‘objet d’art' and I was looking to make an impression for a special present that will last for my godson for many years ahead. The price seemed about right at £29.99 but the quality of this item is poor. It's not badly made, but the fabric of the box is poor. The wood is very thin and it might be 1mm plywood put together with an air gun and some fake leather straps and powerful wood stain. Overall from a distance it might look quite good but close up it's just a little bit thin there's no way it would take any 'treasure' or anything substantial and it probably won't last that long if it gets dropped a few times. The actual design is quite good and I do like it but unfortunately its execution is certainly a bit on the cheap side. I think if I were really looking for a proper treasure chest I'd probably have to spend double again, or even make it myself. The packaging for the cardboard box the didn't have the usual Amazon filler so I was grateful that there wasn't any damage. There were indeed 2 keys in the box. Overall it just gets over the 'line' but don't expect too much.

I ordered this for my Grandson as I thought he was getting to the age he might want to keep personal things away from an enquiring little sister! Both I and he are thrilled with the treasure chest. It looks so good you could just have it on the side as a show item. We are both really delighted with it, it looks so good and genuine, I was not expecting anything as nice as this when I ordered, it looks as good as in the picture. It comes with a lock as well. Okay you wont keep valuables in it but as a really classy looking item it would take some beating. Brilliant whoever designed and made these and for Amazon for having them.

When it arrived the latch for the lock had fallen off so I couldn’t lock it and the wood was warped a bit. Not worth it at all.

Quite disappointed with this chest. For £50, you would expect much better quality. This is made from very thin plywood and wood and would probably break if a heavy book fell on it. The “leather” straps will most certainly come off after a few uses and the wood stain wipes off with a cloth. I needed to get something like this very quickly, so I ordered it here. If I’d had more time I would have searched a couple of antique shops to get the real thing, made properly, that would cost less than half the price of this.
