These are not edible!
My daughter decided she wanted to try these. Why? No idea, but I bought a pack. First, they look absolutely nothing like the picture. They’re very small, thin, and hard. They are incredibly spicy, but not in a good way. There’s a very strange smell, taste and aftertaste that’s hard to place and very hard to get rid of. My daughter has tried everything to make them edible. She has wiped them down and soaked them to try and get some of the taste/smell out. But, there’s no way she or anyone else in the house are going to eat these things. A total waste of money and false advertising with the picture.

Yummy! But an Acquired Taste
I wanted to try these after seeing them on TikTok. First thing is, they had a very strong and pungent smell. I honestly think it isn’t bad once you eat them, but it’s very off putting to a lot of people so if you’re picky this might not be for you. Otherwise, they’re a sweet and spicy snack, which are a bit oily and chewy. Definitely not the healthiest but kind of addicting.I really like them, but I understand all the negative reviews because it’s an acquired taste and if you aren’t open minded it can be hard to try them.

I prefer to avoid
Interesting but as I am unsure of Chinese food healthcode , So I have a hard time trusting it .Some gummy candies from China have warnings on warning of lead and other toxins that might be in them , So ...I took a taste of these and spat it out ...It's very tough texture and medium hot spice ... a bit of a juicynes too .But not for me ....But, I'm sure SOMEONE loves it .

Delicious
I absolutely adore the spicy Chinese snacks. I don’t know why everybody hates them. I love them. I don’t know what to say. I think they’re so unique and delicious. God bless the people who make these God bless the people who sell them.

Over Hyped
This snack is definitely an acquired taste.Right out of the package, the aroma is overwhelming—a strong mix of burnt soybean oil and fish oil that lingers in the nose long after the first bite. The fish oil flavor is just as prominent, carrying through the entire experience. The spiciness is unexpectedly mild, and it leans heavily on sweetness, giving it a strange similarity to spicy sweet pickles. I was expecting a bolder, more savory heat-this leaned too sweet and too pungent for my taste.

So Weird! Spicy, alien, multi-layer texture and flavor explosion
Oh my god, I had no idea what I was buying. These are so weird from the first bite. The product is a mylar bag of gluten 1/3" inch (9mm) diameter flexible 6" inch (150mm) long tubes. Can't eat one in one bite, one bites off a part of the vegan slim-jim-like snack unit.We hated them on first bite -- but we were still intrigued. We brought a bag to a party and left them out. Three of six people who tried them guessed they were a weird Asian fish product of unknown origin. They *loved* the strange experience.Biting into this: it's a chewy tube (of what?!!) inside another chewy tube with spicy-chile-oil-goo between the tubes or something. It's so weird. So, do not buy this if you live in the US and you don't want to try something VERY weird. This is a really odd product. It's not bad, it's not bland, it's not ... well. It's a curious east Asian snack with textural and flavor challenges for most of us.Note to those who hate them: these are EXTREMELY popular in some areas of east Asia and this brand is one of the top brands. Search for "Latiao" (and other spellings) to read some really crazy stories about how they are so good they are "addictive".

Unexpectedly sweet
I learned about spicy sticks on TikTok. I was so sure it was going to be delicious. I’m positive this would have been an acquired taste, but it wasn’t at all what I was expecting so I couldn’t finish it. I’ll start off with the positive. The texture was absolutely immaculate. That texture is something I’ll be craving in the future. It was light but chewy. Super scrumptious. The spice was perfect. Your first bite, you’ll feel the spice and aroma go up your throat and through your nose. It was a nice experience. Now for what I didn’t like about it. The flavor. I’d like to say, again, this for sure could be an acquired taste. However, I was expecting something savory. It was unexpectedly sweet so I wasn’t able to finish it. It’s not sweet like cake or anything. I can’t exactly describe it. I saw a review saying it was slightly sweet, but to me, it was more than just slightly sweet.Overall I’ll give it three stars bc even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, it was still a pleasant experience to get to try this snack and maybe I’ll give it another try in the future.

Basically inedible
These are SPICY. Lemme start with that. I can usually handle a good bit of spice since I frequently eat Asian dishes and snacks but my god these are awful. My local Asian store was out of Latiao as was I and I LOVE it so I figured I’d try some off here. The bags are smaller than I’m used to so I was sad off the bat, but immediately upon opening, I’m met with this gross smell that was very off putting. These don’t smell or taste like any of the six brands I’ve had or am used to. Spice aside, the flavor would make me not eat it either. But I couldn’t even finish a single stick because of the spice!! I’m so sad :( these are going straight to the trash. These are, however, actual Latiao. The texture itself is what it’s supposed to be, the sticks are thicker than normal but it’s still chewy and explodes with the greasy flavor as it’s meant to. Just be wary of this brand! I’d rate it nothing if possible since I’ve basically just wasted money.
