They don't make service manuals like they used to
I just had a need to reference this for the first time. I guess real manuals from "the old days" are no more... growing up, I had a half dozen assorted Haynes and Mitchell hardbound manuals that were 'gold' when working on all my projects. Pic quality here is very poor considering modern lithography and paper quality, even as compared to the 'phone book paper' used in my original 45 year old Haynes manuals. This book might help some, but you can get significantly better info (and picture quality... and videos) from Mister Google. This book will end up basically unused as part of the "provenance" package I provide to some future owner years from now (like when you give them old registration paperwork and that unchewed stick of Wrigley's you found under the seat when you were cleaning it up in preparation for sale.).

Not thorough enough
Not enough info or diagrams for maintenance

a newer publication with more pictures would be nice.

Haynes is a great resource. But not the only book you'll need.
I love the Haynes books. This one is a typical entry in those books for Land Rover Series 3 trucks. I've used it now for a few months, and a few projects:* brakes overhaul* Wiring issues, fixes* Brakes improvement planning (single line to dual line upgrade).* Dashboard, Speedometer replacement.* Fluids replacement.I can tell you what this book does right:* Clear illustrations, many , many. The Chilton books use bad black and white photos that are poorly lit and degrade with each printing. Clear line art illustrations are way easier to understand.* Also includes Clear photos. Lots of close ups and detail shots. Great.* Wiring diagrams are Clear and easy to read.* Specs given for torque, fluid types and capacities.* General disassembly/assembly instructions...What this book does poorly:* Instructions can be vague. You have to consult the LR Series 3 Parts manual for exploded views of assemblies.* Some torque specs missing. Just says to "tighten bolts". What? These are my brakes, dang it!! So, not the definitive source.* No mention of gaskets or greasing or sealants at times. Feels lacking. Watching a YouTube video of a mechanic re-assembly sometimes has more detailed info on greasing and/or gaskets and sealant placement. I never trust 100% what this book says...more like check 3 sources and if two agree, go for it.* Pages are fragile newsprint. As I get older and wiser, I like to just copy/print out the pages I need and take the copied pages to the car. Then I can mess them up with greasy fingers and save the book. I might recommend getting a digital version, and printing pages out...but I also like a physical book for reference. There's no way I want to come back to an iPad or laptop with greasy fingers. Also, sometimes I need to do some casual research for a few weeks before actually doing the work, so having a physical book on the desk helps me browse it casually to answer a question I have. So having a printed book is good. Just wish these guys would figure out glossy pages or laminated pages. All in all, I'd still buy the book. Just know you probably ALSO need the LR Official Repair Manual(Green Bible) and LR Parts Manual as well. And even then, you'll still be on YouTube for more detail. :)

Paperback not good for leaving in back of car/garage
Wish I’d gone for hardback… cover is getting dog eared and curling within a week, just sat on workbench in garage. My stupid fault to choose paperback. Otherwise a superb classic Haynes manual.

A Dangerous Daughter Review
Dina Davis writes with great sincerity, from experience and out of concern for people suffering from anorexia. Her book describes the pain and misunderstanding experienced by many who live with the condition. The book is a great achievement for Dina Davis, having survived and thrived since recovering from anorexia nervosa.

Ottima guida
