Does any color work better than the other?

I have had both clear and blue and the blue heated my pool much more significantly than the clear PLUS, it is the MIL number you need to also care about. 12 mil or higher will heat your pool better than anything less than 12 mil. if you want a warm pool and your pool is not a dark-colored pool like a black pebble tec pool (mine) or dark blue colored pool then, you will need a higher mil than 12 to heat it.

Is there a warranty on this solar cover?

I've had this cover for 15 months and it's falling apart; seams splitting, bubbles falling apart, torn edges. I've spent more on covers at Leslie Pool (I hate Leslie Pools), but they last at least 5 years. DO NOT but this cover, its cheaply made, of low quality material.

What is this material made of? Is it safe to use in a pond?

It will be safe for at least a year. I have had the cover for exactly 13 months and the cover is starting to fall apart and is leaving small blue bubble debris in my pool. If you have fish in the pond, I would be concerned that the debris could harm the fish if they tried to eat it.
