Arrived and Thrived!
A lot of people don’t know what a juvenile plant looks like; please don’t let them scare you away from getting this plant. Similarly, they don’t know what shipping stress is either. I’m genuinely glad I tried this seller out, because I received a cute little friend in some pretty neat packaging.I got what was exactly as advertised: a “baby” black coral elephant ear. Expect it to be small, and don’t expect it to be jet black right out of the box. The poor thing has been through shipping, and less sun = less black and more green. Pot her up immediately, give her quality grow lights or really good sunshine, and she WILL turn black and start growing more leaves.I unpacked a perfectly healthy elephant ear child who was a roughly darkish green color due to age and lack of sun, quickly darkening up within three days of delivery and full sun exposure. Please note that my photos are after a month of having this little friend in some good summer sun, and a few drinks of nitrogen rich fertilizer. The leaves become glossier as the plant ages, giving you that classic black coral look. While young, the leaves will be more matte like in my photos; I took them when my little guy was still getting there. The first two original leaves died off after being replaced by new ones, and are not in my photos. Again, this was expected as the plant went through the stress of shipping. For some reason, a lot of people don’t understand this either. LEAVES WILL DIE. AND BE REPLACED. Your plants need love, sunshine, water, and time! Dieback is normal!Overall, I’m really happy I tried this seller, because I literally got what I wanted and paid for. I plan on ordering a black magic too as I ended up really liking the matte look the young black coral leaves gave off, but will probably wait until spring.

Avoid this seller! Tiny plants, poor service!
Not many greenhouses around me carry interesting exotic plants, so I order a lot online. This is probably the most disappointed I’ve been with a plant order. Looking at the photo, I expected at least a plant that somewhat resembled the photo. What I got was half dead and about an inch and a half tall. Seriously - it looked like a week old seedling. I used the fertilizer put it in optimal soil for elephant ears and gave it ample sun and appropriate water. Then one of its two teeny tiny leaves dies. This plant “seedling” is not viable. I contacted the seller who balked at my refund request. Now I have to figure out how to safely pack this teeny tiny thing to send it back in order to get my lousy refund. Ridiculous. Avoid buying from this company, unless you like overpaying and hassles.

Arrives small but matures quickly
It did indeed arrive small but with time it got pretty big. I ordered bulbs from other vendors that arrived mushy so this was my work around. Plant is beautiful.

Very small for the price
Nothing like the picture. It came very very small with only 2 (very very small) leaves and one of the leaves were dead. I also ordered in another color and it was exactly like this one. Just disappointed on the size for the amount I paid.

exactly as described, but shipped too wet
exactly as described, this little starter plant is super cute! but the medium was soaked, it was legit mud, and a majority of the root system rotted, but i salvaged what was left and i’m hopeful it’ll recover. Definitely ship these with less moisture in my opinion. Even though colocasia tolerate being in wetter substrates this was like swampy mud. Everything else seems fine, plant seems strong enough to survive i hope!

Very expensive. Both plants main leaves dead.
I'm to blame for not realizing how tiny and fragile these would be for the price. Both main leaves (each had one with another unfurling) were dead. I read instructions. Cut of dead leaves. Repotted. Fed. Put under a grow light (not close). It's been a week. Baby leaves still fragile. Fingers crossed. I emailed seller and have gotten no response. I also got a frydek with 2 baby leaves. One is transparent. One is okay. Too small and fragile for the price.

As described.
I used to sell and ship plants and trees before my business crashed when covid hit. So i have shipped hundreds of live plants through the mail. My order was packaged very well and came in the best possible condition you can get through the mail. The plant was in good health (as much as it could be) and also exactly what was described and explained on Amazon. Just wanted to give a good review when it is deserved. I ordered 2 plants so after i order more i will have several orders to give an update on my review. So far two orders and both were great.

WORST plant received from Amazon !!
I’m just getting into the “bring nature indoors” trend of decorating & I AM LOVING it !! And, affordable greenery from Amazon has been KEY; I’ve essentially tripled the number of my indoor plants. And, they have ALL come in, in GREAT shape (1 was a bit droopy, but rallied & is now in PERFECT shape !!I thought this was a VERY cool, moody looking little plant. Admittedly, I did NOT read the height/size; but it came up, on the same page, in the same category with about 4-5 other plants I ordered (a couple bigger) but smaller to medium plants, I was ordering at the time. However, this poor little guy arrived LAST, out of my total order. With the pot, it MIGHT have been 4” tall, had 3 leaves, 1 dead, 1 dying & 1 that looked pretty good.I was annoyed at how TINY it was, but partially my fault. I nursed him, for a few weeks, but he was essentially DOA.Disappointing, as all the other indoor plants I’d ordered are THRIVING !!
