it cam in a flat maybe 5 or 6inches high and maybe 24 to 30 inches square

Q: Anyone know where I can get a replacement pad?

Many apologies but James Galt does not keep spares for this item.

Q: If left outside during winter would it get ruined?

We did not leave it out all winter. It was out on the covered deck for play and then in the garage when not in use through the winter. So, it was not exposed to the elements.
