You'll have to have it at the very top of it where the width of the picture holder can be either 8" or 10".

will this hold plexiglass for a baby shower welcome sign?

It easily holds my white board. Seems to me quite sturdy - no wobbling or collapsing legs. Since I don't know weight of your plexiglass I couldn't guarantee it.
