Q: Does it catch bees? Or other beneficial insects?

It definitely attracts and kills bees. Do not use on a fruit tree that is in bloom. I killed about 40 bees and only 1 fly after hanging it for an hour. I plan to wait until fruit is forming on my cherry tree before trying again.

Q: Can this product be used indoors for flying gnats unrelated to plants?

Yes, absolutely. Our basement was overrun by fungus gnats this summer, due to all the rain, I suppose. We have two fluorescent utility lights, that have the protective grid underneath the bulbs. I cut the traps in half, and stuck them to the top of the grid (underneath the bulbs). The secret was leaving the lights on 24/7. It was astounding how many gnats were caught every day, but I never saw one airborne after that. I also tried this with the newer LED utility lights, but the gnats ignored those.

Q: What attractant do these traps use? Ammonium carbonate?

None. The bugs are attracted to the color. The have a very sticky surface. I quit using them when they trapped a bird.

Q: Do these work to get rid of pre-existing aphids concentrations on the leaves of houseplants? Anyone? Thank you!

Yes, I had problems with my outdoors plants that I brought in for the winter .... had gnats. The yellow sticky traps help me with my problem.
