Q: The description of telescoping length of the is contradictory. Does it extend to 36 inches?

The handle is 19 1/2 inches from the center of the swivel to the end. When it is extended it is 29 inches from the center of the swivel to the end of the handle. I can easily reach all parts of the roof on my Subaru Outback. Hope this is helpful. All the best.

Q: The duster leaves streaks of a wax like residue; how can this be avoided?

The instructions on the Amazon page says to wrap brush in newspaper for one day when it is received to absorb the wax. Thanks for mentioning this. I haven’t bought one yet. Now to find a paper similar to newspaper to absorb the wax. Maybe paper towels will do the job.

Q: The description says it removes scratches. How does that work, they are just brushes?

I did not see that claim, nor do I use it for that purpose. But most of these dusters have some type of wax on the strands (brushes), and that might cause very fine scratches in the paint finish to disappear temporarily (at least when the duster is new, before the wax wears off). Sorry, but that is the only explanation I can think of for such a claim.
