Holds propane, this is good. How much propane? Buy a Quija board or dice
Save you money if you want a tank with a float gauge that give a reasonable indication of how much propane is in the tank. I bought this specifically because it has a float gauge. I mistakenly thought they would make the gauge so it indicated how much propane is in the tank. Just to give you an idea, when the gauge shows completely empty, it still has five pounds of propane in it. So, if you dash to get it refilled where they charge the same to fill whether it is empty or half full, you will then find out its a quarter full and pay full price for 3/4 of a tank. Needless to say, I am, disappointed. Now, I have purchased a scale that lets you suspend the tank for a second or two and holds the weight. This lets you calculate the exact amount of propane.Bottom line... if you want a tank with a gauge that works look elsewhere. This is not it. Buy a scale.

Great tank and the gauge is nice to have!
This tank is good quality and the attached gauge works well and is very nice to have to keep from running out of fuel.

Quality tank, gauge not worth it
The gauge on mine reads completely empty when the tank is over 20% full. I paid double the price of the tanks I could buy locally to get this one because I thought the gauge on this one would be more useful than the in-line pressure gauges. Money wasted. I have no use for a gauge that tells me "you're going to need to refill the tank some time next month".

Tank with Guage
Very good tank seems very will made. Comes purged which saves money on first filling. My main interest was the gauge. I have never had gauge that worked well on a portable tank like this. This one works fairly well which is quite a plus. It does not follow actual levels precisely but gives a good approximation. I have more confidence in it than any of the other gauges I have used. Gauge is a little flimsy (plastic) so do be careful with it. Oh, the tank has a special spot for the gauge to fit so gauge will not work with a Brand X Tank. Would buy again.

Gauge is NOT permanently attached! Date was 18 months old.
It's not clear from the description, but the gauge is NOT permanently attached to the valve, it's a small gadget that mates to a proprietary round recess and is held in place with a clip (so, that is why the gauge will not work on other tanks as others have mentioned in review.) I'm not even sure how this works, clearly not by pressure. Perhaps temperature difference? I wish that would be explained. Also, when I received this tank the manufacture date was 18 months old already, which means I will be able to get it refilled only for 10.5 more years, not 12 (before needing to get a new tank or get it recertified.) While I don't expect the inventory to be brand new, if older than 1 year it really should be disclosed because it's not worth as much the older the date.

Works well, first spring/summer so we’ll see how well it lasts.
