BOSS Audio Systems MRANT12 Marine Rubber Antenna Compatible with Marine Receivers

I used this antenna for my custom install of a stereo in my popup camper. Works excellent. I had to swap out the bolt for a longer one so it can reach through the side of the roof on the camper. The antenna provides a water tight fit with the included rubber mount, and I just unscrew the rubber antenna part when I'm traveling with the camper. You can also tilt it down as it will rotate if you loosen it. I like that it's rubber and won't corrode, or look worn over time. Also, being flexible is nice. Haven't had any trouble with reception. I have it wired into a Pioneer car stereo inside the camper, and I get excellent results.

It took me some time to install this into my boat. I call it my upholstery apprenticeship. I know why custom upholstery costs so much now. It looks sweet now and sounds even better. This deck sounds so clear, even at excessively high volumes (OH MY!) I hooked them up to the Infinity Reference 6.5, 225 watt. It pushes them just fine. Matching ohms perfect. The Dual SG1 Universal splash cover fit and works great.The antenna is mounted out of site under the gunnels and works nice from there.

I bought this antenna for my motorcycle to mount on the side of my new trunk. The only issue is the pivot screw is a few threads to short and will easily strip if you are not careful but is easily rectified. Remove the lock washer below the head of the screw and it makes it just the right length to adequately tighten without striping and remain tigh enough to keep it from coming loose or moving during travel. I replaced the 12 inch "Rubber Ducky" with a 24 inch stainless steel whip just for the "Motorcycle" look, I really only needed the base but it worked well as it was. Great reception and no static or interference. For the price, 20% of an auto parts store, it was well worth it for the same antenna.

Great replacement antenna or even for a new install, which mine was. Shipped quick with Amazon Prime and was packaged with several other things I'd ordered. Installation was easy and it work super. Now the pontoons ready for another summer on the Lake.

Other reviewers have mentioned the absence of instructions, but indicated they eventually figured out how to use the antenna without them. I'm stumped without the instructions. It is not at all self evident how to attach the cable base to the antenna. Also unclear is how to attach the combination of the two to your vehicle. I think this particular antenna may be more complicated than others because of the weather shielding... Who do I contact for "technical support" with this item?One other issue: the additional product info says "stretches to 56 inches". That had left me with the impression that the antenna would extend to 56 inches. Nope. The cable is 56" long. The fixed-length antenna is about 12" long.The manufacturing quality appears to be ok. I haven't yet been able to test the reception...

The bolt wasnt nearly the long enough, but an easy fix. Best deal I found. Wish it was white.

It directly replaced the same antenna that rotted after 6 years on the salt water. I was actually able to separate the parts and replace just the rotted parts for a 5 minute fix. It doesn't have amazing reception but it works and for the price it's excellent.

Take it from someone with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, and who's also an Amateur Radio operator. This is nothing more than a placebo antenna.You have the same reception with or without this antenna. The problem is that it's made of multiple bits that screw in together and press against each other, and they don't close the electrical circuit. In fact, some of the bits are painted and essentially disconnect the antenna.I was able to "fix" it by filing away paint and using conductive paste on all links to connect them together. Reception is a bit better, but signals are not strong enough for the seeker to stop on channels.In the end, even if you get lucky and it works as intended, it's still nothing more than bits of metal chained together. Just use a wire! There's no antenna tuning or engineering design in this at all.
