luna safari 3/4 size spruce nylon stringed guitar also comparing the steel stringed mahogany luna safari 3/4 size
this is my second luna guitar of this size.I first got the steel stringed guitar, which I feel is of better quality than my expensive baby taylor. It is louder and with better intonation.the steel stringed luna safari has perfect intonation and a very nice neck.the nylon stringed luna safari is just as nice.also perfect intonationthe neck is the same size as the steel stringed lunathis guitar has very good treble and bass vibrato, and a good sound board that reverberates like a classical guitar shouldIt is very well made.a good starter guitar for someone with small hands or a bad shoulder as I have.the action is not stiff on the guitar I received, but others might have a little stiff feel. You can improve that with high quality strings.I love the inlaid phases of the moon on the finger board.the set in neck is very nice.their are some nicks along the edges of the top where a binding would be, but not terribly noticeable.I suggest the spruce top over the mahogany, however the two match well. they match my ukulele's which is what I wanted.the gig back is for carrying the guitar, and does not offer a lot of protection from bumps and should not be used for every situation.it would be worth getting a hard case for this nice little guitar.iv seen others berate this gig bag, but it is well made, heavy canvas with a good zipper and straps though not a padded gig bag. it will protect against dust, and provides a way to carry it around if you need that so, I think the gig bag, which is free is ok for its purpose.the sound of this guitar is not loud but correct for the size of the guitar.the string spacing is a little narrow but you hold a classical guitar differently than a steel stringed guitar, with the neck raised higher.this helps prevent cramped fingers if the spacing is too narrow.it is for small hands with a small reach.since the neck is the same size as the steel stringed guitar and the nylon strings are thicker, it allows less room, so a wider classical neck may be needed if you have adult sized hands.I am small, with small hands and the narrowness is almost too narrow with these strings, so I will be looking for thinner strings to try out.this guitar is lovely to play, and stays in tune once the nylon strings are properly stretched. It arrived a day early and well packed.I would purchase this guitar for beginner or seasoned players if they were looking for a nice guitar of this size.It does not quite have the same sound as a full sized guitar however it isn't full sized.I am very happy with this brand and will stick with it as long as the quality is as high as it is.I have daisy rock and a baby taylor, which are pretty expensive and not as nicely made as the Luna brand.the only guitar Iv tried that exceeds it is high end Cordoba which is three times the price.I have a santa rosa of this size which is very old. it compares in quality but has a better sound than the santa rosa.I think the sound will improve with age.Binding helps protect the edges against dings so for a child I suggest a starter guitar with binding if dings bother you.I like the rosette better on the classical nylon stringed Luna compared to the black decal rosette of the mahogany Luna.the rosette on the nylon Luna looks nice because the brown color looks more inlaid than the black rosette on the mahogany one.I gave four stars because of the narrow string spacing on the nylon guitar, but may change that if I find a better sized string to go with this guitar.I think it's a great little guitar for the money, and Im very happy with it.I am now a Luna fan for life. thank you Luna for your wonderful well made pretty guitars.

Perfect for a beginner
I really like this guitar, as a beginner and with little access to guitars IRL. I think it has a good sound with the original strings, and is so comfortable to hold. It also has a nicer appearance IRL than Amazon's picture.Unfortunately as I improved I discovered I need a wider neck, so will have to part with it. :-( I wish Luna made wider-necked guitars!

Great cheap guitar
I knew what I was getting hear. This is a beginner guitar for small hands. Its well constructed and was set-up well. No complaints. Its what I expected

Luna 3/4 student guitar
Just the right size for a student who is a 12 year old girl. Plays nicely, sounds good and won't break the bank if she doesn't continue with it. The nylon strings will ease the finger pain as she builds up callouses. Much more comfortable than steel strings for a beginner.

Not what I expected
This guitar was poorly made... cheap bridge and buzz on 2 of the strings.... I sent it back

Don't waste your time; or money.
This was my most disappointing Amazon purchase I've had in 20 years. This company shouldn't even be allowed to have trading partnership with Amazon.First thing to address, the service. When I purchased this item, the condition was clearly listed new. I don't ever post product images, but this certainly won the award of exception. As you can see, the boxing itself is a disgrace and has clearly been passed down from customer to returning customer. The product tag also states it has been around since 2008. I can't really say much besides the obvious home tape, the rips and tears, the stains and chppings on both the Luna Guitars product box and the item itself.I know what Luna is capable of. Aside from poor treatment of this poor "3/4" scale, this guitar line was pitiful like a spit in the face. I'd like to start off saying that this is actually more a half size than anything, the measurements are off are listed and advertised. I have owned 2 3/4th scales from different guitar companies, and being a player for a decade, I know what they should look and sound like. This 1/2 size was so small that even I, a 5'2 female with petite hands couldn't play, dare I wonder how a grown man would even begin to strike a simple power chord on this thing. The frets themselves were so cheaply saughtered that the "glue" of object leaked to the sides like melted cheese. This rushed/poor job also caused the edges of the neck to be pricking my palm on every scale (no pun intended). Even considering softer nylon sounds, I felt like this having called an acoustic is a misjudgement. My electrics unplugged are louder than this toy. The intonation is horrible as well, I had to retune it every 4 hours. The action was also way too high and definitely needed custom bridge adjustments to it, at the very least. Lots of other work including the frets needed generalized repairs to even consider a basic tune on this. The gig bag was free, so beggars can't be choosers unlike some whiny brats that expect a $40+ value on something included with the bundle packaged deal. You will get a floppy outer case with minimal protection (if any) on the instrument and will probably not fit an adult. I even struggled to put the backpack-styled straps on myself. Luna really misleaded us by labeling this as a "travel" guitar. Even having it as a children's would be a crime. I was certainly hoping giving all of these the benefit of the doubt that this particular model was abused from past players, though when I stopped by a local Luna dealer to see the others were no different, so don't be fooled. This would be great for your 4 year old toddler playing "Mary Had A Little Llamb", but otherwise I wouldn't have paid a penny over 1/3rd the price ($50) new for it. I urge you to take this review to heart when I say don't waste your time, and invest in a full sized guitar instead, for any age. I'm not a large male nor a child and it still just doesn't work, no matter how hard I tried to make peace with it. Full sized Luna's have offered quality and sound great for their product line prices, but this has had the tables turned. Thanks for reading, and good luck on finding another that suits your needs.

Very disappointed with the product
Very disappointed with the product. On the outside it looks good, though when you look a bit closer you start to see the cheap manifheacturing - the bracing that is visible from the soundhole was cut poorly - edges were not straight, there was excess glue on the neck ontop of one of the lunar inlays marking the frets that was quite hard to clean up, the neck was said to be a c shape, but it was more of a v shape - dont know if that was intentional but it was not as advertised, sound was not very good as well, but this may be just due to the 3/4 size that may not play well with nylon strings - there were some resonance on the low Eb, that maybe partially improved when I changed the strings. And maybe the most annoying thing was the loose handles of the tuners - they had some free movement before you start tightening or loosening the strings which was really irritating. I am giving 2 stars because the overall design is nice and it really is a pity that it is accompanied by such poor quality. Also to be noted - there are a lot of positive reviews about this guitar, so I think I may have just got a "bad" one, still this means that you can't expect consistent quality. I returned mine.

On Safari
Lovely little travel guitar. Nice design around the sound hole. As with most other Luna products I have bought. it looks like it won't be up to much but upon playing you find a nice range of tones without it leaning too far either way. Well made and stays in tune well. The only thing that lets it down is the adequate but slightly thin bag it comes with. Apart from that a very nice travel guitar

The sound for the size is great, but you do need to fit better strings ...
The description is WRONG. There is no on board pick-up. Still what do you expect for this price. I was familiar with the instrument so wasn't expecting it to have one. The sound for the size is great, but you do need to fit better strings than those supplied. I like the Martin Nylon strings.A better-than-average choice for a child.

Gitarre kam leider beschädigt an
