I use this moisture meter for my business and it does what it is supposed to.When I have elevated readings I always use more than one moisture meter and brand to compare.By doing so you can determine if you have an active situation.

After suffering the effects of Hurricane Michael and watching restoration specialists go through my house using IR and Moisture Detectors to ID areas of concern, I wanted a means to double check using same type equipment. This device was the same type they used and has proven to be accurate for my purposes. Its easy to use and easy to tread

Very happy I invested the additional money in a non-contact meter. I feel it is quicker to go from point to point and more robust than the traditional contact meter. I am using this meter for ensuring firewood is properly seasoned with moisture less than 20%.Pros-1. Being a non-contact meter makes it easier to take frequent readings on firewood2. Easy to read LCD screen and large screen size3. Good backlighting screen4. Programmable audible alarm for "risk" and "wet" levels5. Nice raised buttonsCons -1. For a meter of this price, I would have liked to see a carrying case or at a minimum a hand strap so it doesn't get dropped or damaged.2. I am sure there is a technical reason, but I cannot understand why the meter needs to be recalibrated every time it powers off or is turned off and then back on. If it is calibrated accurately, it should maintain its accuracy. I am sure it has to do with ambient humidity, but it's time consuming for the way I use it. It only takes 15 seconds or so, but doing this each time is irritating.3. I would like to see the meter have a better ergonomic shape which fits in the hand a little better. It's good size, but it's blocky like an '90's Game Boy (including color).4. The instructions are very short with little content and tiny print.Conclusion - I like the meter and am happy with the purchase. It was worth the additional money for non-contact capability. Some small points where it could be improved, but overall, good product so far.

I calibrated it following its instructions. When time came to measure my potentially wet flooring, it displayed CAL again suggesting it went back to calibration mode 1st. After flashing had stopped, it started measuring, assuming it is what it was doing. For as long as I ran it along the surface it gave me numbers. No explanation that it might switch to CAL mode the first time one starts measuring. For calibration, i m hovering its tip >=1cm above a dry spot. For measuring, i touch its tip to the surface to measure. All this detail in hopes the manufacturer or a happier purchaser can gimme tips. I think w/o precise user doc, it is a rip off.
