Not your typical Lamy.
Pencil portion of this Lamy was broke. The company exchanged it and second unit had an inoperable pencil unit. Pen portion writes great.

Very competively priced and fast, friendly service. Could Adam Smith have asked for more?

dissapointing and frustrating
Very disappointing purchase. Arrived in shorter timeframe than indicated, but mechanism within pen to change pen colors doesn't work correctly. Also no instructions included to explain how pen should work or FAQ's. Wouldn't recommend.

Very Good Pen at a fair price
I own most of the high end multi pens....rotrings, lamys, ohte, zebra. This is certainly one of the best. Does not have the heft of rotring 600 (good or bad depending on your preference) Holds more instruments in a more comfortable space than most. The mechanism is easier and quicker to use than others. The finish has proven more durable than most. I am an engineer and use mine daily. I use all of the colors and the pencil. Lamy is one of the few that offers replacement parts (all of the pencils in the D1 style multi pens are delicate) and the parts are reasonable. Overall a very good product.

One of the top quad multi pens: Lamy 4Pen
Lamy makes some of the best Multi-Pens, it is pretty close between this one and the 2000 model as to which is best. This has a rubber grip, so is easy to hold, and the rest is pretty solid metal, so it is a bit heavier than the 2000, but also a bit sturdier. The 4Pen comes with 4 colors (or actually, 3 plus a 0.7mm pencil), the choice of pen comes by holding the color you want towards the top, the mechanism then pushes that forward, pretty easy and quick. There is a release button on the side. Lamy ball-pen (M21) refills are top-notch, provide a smooth even flow of ink. Rotring and Parker are probably the closest high-end competitor in the multi-pen segment. Yafa has been an innovator (they have a 5-pen multi), but are not as well made. Fisher has a quad multi pen with rubber grip, similar to the Lamy 4Pen, but the barrel is less sturdy, and the pens, while they will write in space, are not quite as good as Lamy's on the ground. This is not a cheap pen by any means, but you do get what you pay for, one of the best multi pens made.
