GE 87635 HDMI Wall Plate, Single

Great HDMI fit, form, and function at about 1/2 the price of retail big-box hardware stores. Better quality, materials, and firm fit compared to house and generic brands at the big-box home hardware stores, which were returned due to loose cable and signal loss problems. Recommendation for use with in-wall or through-wall installations of HDMI cables: Use good quality electric tape to secure the HDMI cable plugs into the rear connector on the HDMI wall plate...3-4 wraps. This keeps out dust, fiberglass bits, and holds the connector in place over time...especially if it is bumped or moved during the final tightening down of the wall plate to the wall box. Would definitely purchase this brand and part number again for future home installations. Weatherbug.

Works well. The only problem i have had is that it can be a little cramped to get everything in there and flush to the wall. Still looks great once complete though.

looks good, but did not make the connection between the receiver and TV. Couldn't figure out the problem until i removed this out of the mix and connected the HDMI cable directly. All work fine, now I have to get something else to connect the HDMI in the wall or use a different wire outside the wall. Waste of time and $$

OK so this is a wall plate which is built around a female to female HDMI adapter. If all you are looking for is something that you can plug two male cables into then this will get you by. However, as soon as you try that inside an electrical box, you will quickly notice that it just is to long to fit. I ran into this with my home theater setup where I have an outlet box mounted right by my projector. The wall plate with the adapter being inset already almost is hitting the back of a standard flip tab blue electrical box. You might be able to get by with one of the extra deep boxes but I haven't tried it yet. The only way I see this working for sure is to use a low volt box, which you can't easily do if you are installing the box in an attic with blown in insulation.I would order a right angle adapter with this just to be sure or build a foam box around your hole in the attic and use a low volt box instead of the enclosed one.

This item looks like it may work, but since I have not installed or otherwise used it, I can (at this time) give it no more than 2 stars. Why don't you ask me again later.

Looked at some from big box store, made much cheaper. These worked well for wiring up TV's and Vcr players in house together and keeping the look clean for the install. I would buy these again VS cheaper models found on Amazon.

This is a very nice, secure face plate. It is very deep (over an inch) so you need to have a deep wall box to support your in-wall cable plus the connector on the face plate. I have open back wall boxes and the standard 3.5 inch deep stud gives me plenty of room to work with this faceplate. I recommend the open wall box for this faceplate if you have that option (i.e. new construction). I am using this for 1080p 3D HDMI and it works great. I would buy this again.
