Heavy Duty, High Quality
Bench Dog Stand: Five StarsAmazon Shipping: ZERO STARSI purchased a stand from another popular supplier recently and the Bench Dog stand is heavier gauge steel and sturdier. If you are thinking about getting this stand, you won't be disappointed. It's a perfect match for the Bench Dog cast iron router table. Now the bad news. I ordered this stand along with a couple other items and Amazon put them all together in one big box. They cut a hole in the shipping box and left the stand sticking up out of the top of the other box with a couple wraps of cardboard on it. Since the stand is very heavy and was upright, it busted through its own packing and busted the other box open. Out of 32 nuts and bolts, my shipment arrived with 24 nuts and 20 bolts. Luckily, the local specialty fastener shop had them for a couple bucks. Otherwise I'd be on the phone with customer service wasting time due to someone else's poor judgement. One leveling foot was smashed, so I had to take it apart and work on it with a hammer to straighten it out. None of the other items fell out of the larger box, but they easily could have.Yes, there are no instructions. If there were they would say, "1. Look at picture, 2. Assemble stand." It's pretty basic stuff. Maybe they would add, "Assemble loosely at first," and "Square stand before final tightening." After you put one corner together you'll realize that you can only use a socket on three of the nuts and you'll have to use a wrench on one of them.Lesson learned: Order heavy items separately. Don't give their shipping department the chance to combine items in one big box that really need to be shipped in separate packages.

How Tall?
I can find NOTHING in the Bench Dog catalog or any other site that tells HOW TALL this stand is!! You would think that this would be a very BASIC measurement to include!! :-(

good product, no instructions, missing parts
I was very impressed with the intial quality of this stand. The coating on the metal is top notch, and the stand is very easy to put together. A note of caution, though, be careful as you assemble this: Loosely assemble only three bolts/nuts on all of the connections (make sure you leave off the one that prevents you from tightening on of the four nuts). Then be SURE to place this standing up on the floor, otherwise the connections aren't tight enough and the unit will be off-kilter. I ended up having to loosten everything and pushed down on the router table top to get the unit to be level with all four casters on the ground. On a sad note, two nuts were missing from the package. The bag had broken open, and I suspect the two fell out of a small hole in the box. I'm working with Bench Dog to send me them, but haven't heard back yet. I will be sure to update if they fail to send them to me!Also, the cast iron top fit fairly well, you just have to play with it to get it secured.

Rock-solid Stand!
This is a rock solid, heavy gauge stand. I use these in my shop for items like Bench Dog's Contractor's Router Table and an oscillating sander. As you can see in the attached image, before assembling the ProStand, I shortened the uprights by cutting out sections on a bandsaw and welding them back together. This put the Router Table at a comfortable height for me - which may not be comfortable for everyone, so do some calculating & measuring before cutting. Since both ends of the uprights have multiple staked holes for the lag bolts, it was far simpler to just cut & weld then to purchase a stake tool and do all the measuring & re-drilling of square holes. Also notice I filled the empty space below the Bench Dog ProTop with a Baltic birch cabinet mimicking the design of the former. It provides easily-accessed storage for router accessories. However, when it comes to casters, sorry Bench Dog, but I prefer the Kreg PRS3090 3" Dual Locking Caster-Set, which have larger diameter wheels and all metal locking components. GREAT COMBINATION!
