9-Pod : Miracle-GRO AeroGarden Italian Herb Seed Pod Kit (9-Pod)

Five of the 9 pods received did not grow as advertised but when I put a submission through the Aerogarden website, they shipped 5 replacement pods very quickly. Overall pleased with the response!

As being a schooled home chef, I have learned that there is nothing better than cooking with fresh herbs. Great meals comes down fundamentally to great/fresh ingredients and cooking skills/techniques. Fresh herbs are essential. Where I live fresh herbs are not easy to find. When I do find them they are often wilted or expensive. Growing your own herbs should be cost effective and guantees freshness.Aerogarden attempts to solve this problem by giving you the ability to grow herbs year round indoors but with “unfortunately” so-so results.PROSExtremely easy to setup and start growing. Takes the pods, add water/fertilizer, turn the garden on, and watch the plants grow.On-going maintenance is easy, Just add water and fertilizer when it tells you to.Enjoyable. I find satisfaction in watching the plants grow. I get plenty of leaves from the most common herbs and enjoy snipping them as I need them (Pizza Margherita, Fresh Pesto, yum).CONSShipping was bad. I mean really bad. My pods were flipping around the box. Two of the pods had removed from the plastic holders. I had no clue which holder to put them back into.Sprouting, hit and miss. I have two pods which are not sprouting. Not the first time this has happened but consistency in growing is key.Price. This is not an inexpensive way to grow herbs-Initial cost, price of the pods, plus the cost of running the machine. I would like to see the price of the italian herb kit reduced. Just too much for a 9 pod system.

I don’t know why, but the Aerogarden pods I receive from Amazon seem to be subpar to those purchased directly from the company. I always have at least 1-2 pods per pack that fail to sprout. Canceling my subscription…

Excellent customer service when I had two separate pods not grow. I contacted Aerogarden via their web site and packaging promise. The next thing I knew, there was an email of my order, and two days later, two replacement seed pods arrived at my home. I’ve got them growing I hope down in there! Also, I have been eating a bit of lettuce, using the Thai Basil already, and the thyme is almost ready, with the oregano hot on its heels! The best thing is my heirloom tomato plant has at least 3 buds coming along. See the pic!So easy to set up and use. The visual timer on the front tells me when I should change the water and when to fertilize. So easy for such awesome results!!

This is the fourth seed kit I’ve tried from Aero Garden and rack pack has at least one pod. It sprout. This pack, 4 (of 9) did not sprout. They have a guarantee so you can get these replaced, but it takes time to get them to Canada (1 month once) so the rest of the garden has grown too tall to even use the new seeds when they arrive.I’m guessing it’s related to the way these are packaged. Thrown into a box where they move around and their seeds fall out in speckled of dirt and even sometimes the whole thing comes apart in the box. (Only one box wasn’t like this and in that box only one seed pod didn’t sprout.)Not impressed with the quality. But they have unseeded pods and these work well to plant your own seeds in.
