This is an updated version of the Surefire Sidekick I purchased several years ago and really enjoyed. This new one is brighter than the Sidekick in all 3 light modes. I also like the charging light system and USB-C connector better in the new version. The adapter that is included allows the light to be attached to the bill of a hat, and that is very handy. Both old and new versions are very well built and a good value. One difference between the old and new is that the old light started with the least bright mode, then got brighter. The new version starts in the brightest mode, then gets dimmer. I personally prefer starting with the dimmer light first, but that may be just me.

I carried two rechargeable lights in my front pockets. But one of them just didn't hold a charge and it was cheap plastic.I looked for a replacement and found this. It has a number of great features that make it the best value for the money.First, at 500 lumens it is simply astonishing. The brightest light that comes from such a small package.Secondly, it has other levels of brightness, to conserve battery life.And finally it will lock onto the chosen brightness level once placed there. After a short time, another press will shut it off instead of cycling to lower brightness levels.Now for the bad news. It can be accidentally turned on in the pocket which unless noticed, will drain the battery. However there is a fix. the belt clip can be reversed to cover the switch, which keeps it from accidentally being activated. I still carry the light in my pocket, but am considering carrying it on my belt in the clip. The only problem with it is that I carry a concealed handgun and a second magazine on my belt, and finding a way to carry another belt appliance is a bit of a conundrum, but I am experimenting to figure it out.I have to recommend this light based on not only the low price, but the performance. You only need to be aware of any problems with the light getting turned on in your pocket, and it lasts a very long time.

Bright light! Small so comfortable to carry in my pocket. Easy to use and the charge seems to last a long time.

This is a really nice light for the price.

I gave it a couple days, and a couple tries to make sure it wasn't user error, because I just couldn't believe that it WOULDN'T HOLD A CHARGE FOR A SINGLE DAY, EVEN WITHOUT USING IT!! Seriously, wtf?! When I got it, I charged it that night. Turning it on to make sure it worked. I often walk at night, so the next night (24hours later), I went to go for my walk, but it wouldn't turn on. I thought, okay, well that's strange, but it must be a fluke. So I charged it again. Waiting for the light to turn green, and went for my walk. The moon was full, so I only turned it in for about 30 seconds just to see how it looked. Now here I am, the next night, 24hours later... and it's dead!!! How insane is that?!What makes it also even worse... It's that it's the perfect size, weight and brightness. Just what I was looking for... Buuuutttt... It's just not functional! In the trash it goes. So lame.
