Season Six returns following the battle between brothers which left Bjorn Ironsides a hero to the people who have been under the tyrannical rule of Ivar for so long. As the new leader of Kattegat, Bjorn struggles to fill his late father's shoes as king, while facing critical dilemmas and wrestling with the idea that power overshadows morals. Meanwhile, Ivar travels to Russia and meets his match in Prince Oleg, a ruthless and unpredictable ruler. Lagertha has her own agenda - to live a quieter and less public life - but new dangers lurk close to home. These 10 striking adventures chronicle the Vikings' invasion of Scandinavia, as Ubbe and Torvi travel to Iceland to uncover the mystery of Floki's disappearance and Hvitserk pursues his personal vendetta against Ivar.

VIKINGS SEASON ^ VOL ONE DVD
I undrestand, I think, why Vol TWO is yet to be released, but it is very frustrating to have to wait. This Vol sadly shows how important Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) was. I miss her. I still think there too many storylines in each episode, and you just get stuck into one and we cut to another, and then another, and then back again. I can't fault the acting and the script and photography, but is IVAR turning nice???? Hope not. Glad Vol Two will bring this wonderful series to an end. It's been a pleasure.

STARK, BRUTAL, IMPRESSIVE
Dead Ragnar's sons are still divided. Although surely the natural leader, Bjorn struggles to be accepted by rivals. Meanwhile brother Ivar the Boneless is now in Kiev, unexpected ally of ruthless ruler Oleg and hero of decidedly weird young Igor.As always, a wincingly powerful depiction of inhospitable times. No holding back on the hardships of simply trying to stay alive. So much to admire in all departments. Visually great. Characters convincing. Illuminating insights into traditions, beliefs. Throughout mystical aspects. At times almost overwhelmingly spectacular - as with a lavish funeral and several high pitched battles.Certainly not for the squeamish or, at times, perhaps for viewers who consider themselves hardened. Even the most attentive may occasionally find themselves confused - certain sequences turning out to have been imagined rather than actually happening (although they perhaps will).Gripping fare, perhaps too convincing for comfort. Eyes have been opened, thoughts provoked.
