All round brilliant vacuum
So, I've had this new Shark for a week now, and used it 2/3 times. It took a lot of looking and reading of reviews to decide on my 'downstairs' vacuum, but in the end I decided to pay more than I wanted, to get something I wanted! I have a Vax upstairs, and it only gets used about once a month (there's only 2 adults here, and we don't make much mess!) - but it's heavy beast and not suitable for me to use downstairs, which I do more frequently. We bought it about 12/13 years, and yes it has huge suction and brilliant pick-up, it's just a very heavy machine...but going strong even now. I hope the Shark does as well.I was a little afraid of the what the suction might be after reading some of the reviews, many saying they simply couldn't pull it across the floor! Well, I have COPD so am limited a little, but I need downstairs hoovering at least twice a week, and so far it is proving a dream to use. Yes it's got powerful suction, and I've got variable carpeting downstairs, but if you use the suction control on the handle/wand, it helps enormously. As a test I hoovered our large rug in the dining room with the 'beast' (and with a clean filter) and it pulled up a fair bit after several goes over. Then on to the Shark, fresh out of the box and pristine. Well, there was dust and debris galore, even after a thorough clean with the Vax! Now, if I had another spare and clean filter and popped it in the Vax, I'm wondering if it would have pulled more dust up...but this fairly lighweight machine seemed to just suck it up.Overall, it's brilliant to use, all the tools stow on board (except the pet rotator) and all parts click off and on again. Today I did the stairs and utilised the lift away...it's brilliant, and left my carpet pristine. The cable length is good, but I will have replug to my whole downstairs - not a problem. As to the aesthetics - I'm in love with it, expecially the headlights!! It truly reminds me of something either futuristic, or harking back to mid century modern - either way it looks good! A five star review in all but one category from me - I found it to be a little heavier than I was expecting, but way lighter than the beast. I'm going to enjoy using it - I say go ahead and buy, it's worth the money.

The thing works just fine!
Needed a new vacuum. Saw this on special, did a little research and clicked that button.Easy to put together. Fairly lightweight, and you can detach the motor and carry around one handed to get to those awkward places, like curtains and underneath grandma.Suction power is great, with two settings for hard floors and carpets. First use made the carpet in the living room look like new - and yes, I should vacuum more often. The pet cleaning tool isn't just a gimmick either. Tried it out on some cushions etc, removed all cat hairs etc very efficiently.Tried it on the cat, but she called her lawyer. Oh well..Floor unit part works fine too. Had two reasonably powerful LED lights, so you can see under things and remind yourself why you need to vacuum more. What else?Emptying it is easy peasy, lemon squeezy. The only thing I could criticise, is that the actual dust/cat hair/old toenails collection receptacle is a tad small. Lots of trips out to the garbage bin, but, its easy to empty, with a trapdoor mechanism so you don't even need to stick your hand in among the unmentionables to empty it out.The suction is a might powerful to be used on small rugs, as I found out, among various Laurel & Hardy scenes of me waving the wand end about with a rug attached, yelling "Stop! Damn you! STOP!"We live and learn, and that's not really a complain about Le Shark. That's it. Very good vacuum. Tad pricey, unless you get it on special, but for the money either way, it does the job.

I have been
I have been so happy with my purchase; it works just as advertised and was true to previous reviews I had read. I've probably been using it for almost a month now.I've found that it picks up on carpet and hard floor very wellThe suction on the nozzles are very powerful, I didn't expect it to be that strong - I use the slim crevice tool to clean the dusting brush and it gets everything out. The fact that the dusting brush head can detach and separate from the crevice tool underneath is very useful and makes cleaning easy. The headlights are actually a nice addition, it illuminates the dirt really well and has been useful.A little tip: I found that after I used the lift away function, the lift away pod wouldn't want to 'click' back in easily. Sometimes it worked straight away, other times it took so many attempts! But it's not that you need to slam it down or push down harder, it really will click into place very easily, IF you angle it slightly forward when you lower it into the hoover head. I seemed to be lowering the pod completely vertically, which clearly isn't the right angle. Once I figured out to angle it slightly forward, it slots into place straight away. The only down side is that when I use the lift away function, I tend to put the lift away pod down so I can use both hands on the wand for greater control and the pod tends to topple quite easily (I usually hold it between my legs to stop it toppling) - it probably wouldn't be as much of a problem if the hose was longer, it is quite short compared to previous vacuum cleaners, but I guess that's not much of a problem since you can lift the base higher.Regardless of the small inconvenience, the many benefits outweigh this small issue. The lift away function is still very useful and I'm glad it has it.
