Better and cheaper than more expensive models and better than ...
Great-sounding shot gun microphone for its flat response frequency of 40Hz to 20KHz, you can use one AA battery to power the microphone and save your camcorder battery juice. Better and cheaper than more expensive models and better than stock microphone came with many pro camcorder. I am amazed at how this shotgun microphone picks up voices quite far from it, it sounds clean clear dialogue and picks up live sound music pretty good too. The only, not really downside is the length of 10 inches long, it could be shorter like 8 inch would be nice. Anyway, It is the best shotgun microphone I could effort since I am just a hobby videographer want to be and I highly recommend it. This is a great combo deal price since you will get: a Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone, a Foam Windshield, a Shock Mount for Camera Light-Shoe, a Carry Pouch, plus a deadcat or Sennheiser MZH 600 Windshield too and the dealer shipped very fast and arrived within two days. Thanks.

Great Mic! Just a Bad Battery
The audio quality from this, and other Sennheiser products I've owned and used, is great. You cannot go wrong with this mic.The only reason for a star being taken away was after using it once, and leaving the one "AA" battery inside, the battery must have exploded and the inside piece protecting the inner wires was destroyed. Not sure if this was a faulty battery or the mic itself, but I have been using it even without this protective casing and have not had another issue since. It does make for a hard process of getting the battery in and out though.I've had the mic for about a year now and would still highly recommend it. However, I wouldn't turn down a new one with the original battery inner workings.

Not Much More Than a Standard Video Camera Mic
The sound is not high-level production quality. The mic may be good for interviews where sound quality is not an issue; it sounds like a conventional mic on a low-mid priced video camera. This will not work for making short or long films where you would like to have theatrical quality sound -- think/imagine reverberation, echo; sound bouncing off walls, even when there aren't any.

Quality sound!
Used this Sennheiser MKE 600 mic once so far on a small film shoot. Mounted it on a boom pole and plugged in a Sennheiser XLR wireless transmitter to the end of the mic. Mounted the receiver on the Canon 60D and recorded sound directly to the camera. After the first take I pulled the card out and plugged it into the computer to see how the mic sounded. Wow! Was really impressed! Crystal clear dialog with no echoey room sound. Can't imagine a mic costing hundreds or thousands more sounding any better. (However, I haven't used any of those mics either.) I would highly recommend this mic. That wireless transmitter is heavy though so you will need a really strong shock mount if you plan on using the mic with a plug in wireless unit.

Great mic! Quite hot!
Watch your levels! It's a great mic, with excellent side and rear rejection, but wow, this thing is hot. I was coming from an AT 897 which I liked. At the same distance, the MKE puts out maybe 3db more.

Great mic. Compared it with the Azden sgm 1x and Rode video mic pro. Beats both of them hands down.

Great on-camera mic for reference audio.
Sound quality is great and it does a good job for what its intended purpose is - on camera audio.
