Poor quality
Poor quality. Had this refrigerator for less than 3 years and compressor went out! For a repair man to come out to fix it, it will cost more than buying a new one.

Got this for my sister and her family. She loves it! Came early. Was a pain to get inside. Doors had to be taken off so it could fit through the door way. Took at least two people to move it anywhere. Items stay cold. Looks nice. Works just fine.

First let’s talk about the distributor. The refrigerator was supposed to be delivered no later than May 9th. On May 10th Amazon updated the delivery to May 16.I purchased this brand (GE) because their products are supposedly made in America. Imagine my surprise when the box clearly stated “Made in Mexico”. No more GE for me.The refrigerator is not as quiet as the Samsung that we replaced. The freezer door has to be pulled open from the middle of the handle. If you grab it on the side it won’t operate properly because the framing is not rigid enough. Other than that it works fine.

Planned obsolescence
Ever hear then phrase “planned obsolescence”? You may want to research that concept before buying a brand new refrigerator. R600a Compressor died at about 3 years old. These compressors weren’t designed to last. Before that everything worked fine on this refrigerator, although, the freezer handle fell of repeatedly and left smaller people in the house landing on their buttocks when pulling freezer open, water was never cold coming out of dispenser that required people to hold the door open for long periods of time, slow dispenser. Ice cubes fell out onto the floor constantly whenever people opened and closed the freezer. It is now a big eyesore sitting on my front porch. One big piece of junk that will likely cost me money to get rid of. Bought a second hand refrigerator (11 year old Frigidaire with R134a compressor) and using it until I can save the money to buy a Bosch 800 series refrigerator. After owning two brand new refrigerators, (this GE and a crummy LG refrigerator with crummy Linear compressor) in just 4 years total between the two with both compressors failing, had to gain compressor knowledge and waste lots and lots of time on research and talking to refrigerator repairmen. Posted my review of this fridge on GE’s website, but, not surprisingly, they have already removed my review. Don’t fall for this lower sticker price, you will regret it! I had actually paid a grand more than this listed price 3 years ago. There is a reason they are now a grand cheaper to buy. It’s actually unethical of this company to keep selling these at all, knowing how high the compressor failure rate is. I’m looking for a class action lawsuit to join currently. Very unhappy.
