SAAB 900 16 Valve Official Service Manual: 1985-1993

This manual is a must for the Saab 900 that NO ONE works on anymore! I have to take the manual to the repair shop with the car so the technician can try and fix what might be wrong!

I had bought a CD manual for my 92 Saab on line when I bought the car, by the time I needed it it wasn't supported by by computer operating system, live and learn.I purchased this manual after looking at some others, It is geared more for someone that knows their way around vehicle systems. I found it very helpful in troubleshooting a no start condition on my 900s.I mainly purchased for the electrical diagrams and part locations which are not bad after you figure out how they organize them in the book, not a big issue.With the price of repair shops, this book will pay for itself quickly when doing your own repairs.

Anyone who works on their own Saab should know that the Bentley manual is King. There's just not a better manual out there. However, even this book is lacking in a lot of ways. For one, it's not for the beginner or for someone who's afraid of messing up their car. This book assumes you have a fairly well-established knowledge of the car and skips a lot of details it assumes you'd know. A total novice would be lost with this book.On the other hand, if you do know these cars pretty well, the Bentley manual can help fill in the blanks of a project you'd otherwise not want to do if you didn't have a little guidance. Not for the faint of heart though.

I own two 1991 Saab 900's; one is a convertible and one is a coupe. I also own a 1988 Saab 900 convertible. I have reviewed this manual to assist me in replacing a transmission in the 1988 and replacing the convertible top and it's frame mechanisim. I also need to replace the timing belt on my 1991 convertible. The information provided in this manual will be the perfect assistance I need to guide me through the unique remove and repair process. Can't wait to get started.

Clear descriptions and helpful photos/drawings, laid out in similar sections to official SAAB manual, so easy to find your way around.It would have been helpful to highlight differences between models for European and American market, but this only marginally detracts from its usefulness.

A couple of pages are missing which I suppose should make it a collectors item but besides that this is a most wonderful book should you be wishing to work on old Saabs.

I'm new to Saabs, and after searching the internet for repair questions I was directed to this manual. I have learned sooo much! I isn't meant for beginners however. You do need previous car experience to get anywhere in it, but it has everything I need. Only problem is the sunroof cables. It doesn't have anything on that, because it involves removing the back window. Also, for any Saab owners looking for something that's not in this manual, try [...] Extremely helpful.

This manual provides a seriously good reference for anyone working on a 900 (that it covers). We have an '89 900 Turbo that we've been slowly fixing/restoring. Additionally, it helped with getting the ignition tumbler out of the vehicle, lower control arm replacement, engine electronics diagnosis, etc...

Brought this because people said it was better than the Haynes manual. It was very expensive in comparison and is not any better so get the Haynes version first for £10 it might save you £50

Clear, detailed accounts of all systems. Any shortcomings are usually covered by Haynes, so worth having both manuals, but if I had to choose one of the two, it would be this. Not cheap but worth every penny if you are serious about keeping a classic 900 16v on the road, whether or not you intend to do much work on it yourself.
