Fantastic Unit, died on me in under 2 weeks.
Coming from using both 10,000 and 14,000 BTU units, the 14,000 is the one to get. My bedroom is not that big(12 x 13 feet), ambient temperature is around mid 70's, seemed like it was not cooling the room as much as I expected it to. The 14,000 BTU unit however was a game changer. It felt like a damn cold hotel room it was fantastic, but it died on me in under two weeks so I had to order a new one. Amazon issued a full refund though very smooth process so don't worry too much about my particular experience. The review is about it's effectiveness not my personal experience so I'd get the10,000 BTU unit if the room you are cooling is smaller than mine (and you DON'T have similar expectations to mine where the entire room should feel substantially colder than if a/c unit wasn't present possibly to the point where I need to use a blanket), 14,000 BTU unit if the room is bigger than my personal bedroom and you would like to cool it effectively.

Pure Garbage
The remote control was defective out of the box. After numerous phone calls and hours with "Customer Service", three separate promises to send a new remote yielded NO remote. They lied and sent nothing.Last summer, the unit did work and cooled the room. A bit noisy , but it worked.Went to use it this season, and no cold air. Checked for water in the unit: none. Filter was clear. Exhaust hose was wide open. Just malfunctioning.Called "Customer Service", and was told that a mailing label would be sent out in three days and I could box up the unit, send it back, and they would replace it.4 days later: no mailing unit.Called "Customer Service" again. Was told that AFTER I send them a copy of the Amazon sales receipt, THEN they would send out the mailing label. And after sending the unit back, it would take 7-10 days to process, then a couple of weeks to send out a replacement. Of course, that takes us beyond the one year warranty. But the rep assured me that because my ticket was dated June 15th, my warranty coverage was fine.Sure. I believe them, because they've been only truthful and helpful to this point. NOT!I relpaced the Black and Decker with a Serenity unit that is working and has a working remote, has 2000 more BTU's and was about $70 cheaper. I'd recommend that unit over Black and Decker every time.If Bkack and Decker comes through in the end, great. I'll find use for the replacement. If not, at least it should serve as a cautionary tale to any contemplating a Black and Decker purchase: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. Their products failed, their "Customer Service" failed.

Worked for it's purpose, loud
Got this due to my central air suddenly not working and a sudden heat wave during Fall. Kept the entire second floor cool, but was loud and made a loud noise with vibration that kept waking me up every time it kicked on.I was going to keep it in case the central air stopped again, but it was hard to get sleep when it kept jolting me awake so I returned it. Seeing the other reviews it seems mine was defective, so I would totally buy it again if this situation happens again. My favorite thing about this product was the flap on the top where the air comes out is adjustable, and you can set it to slowly go up and down to move the cool air around. I wasn't able to test the dehumidifier on it, I have no idea if it really worked or not.One last thing to mention was the power bill, even with it on full blast non-stop for a month, was lower than the central air that only kicks on maybe a few times a day to regulate the air temperature.Tldr: It works and keeps a decent sized area cool, but has a chance to be very loud and vibrate enough to wake you up. Also it's very heavy, be careful! Energy bill lower than with central air on that only kicks in a few times a day.

3's the Charm
Well it took 3 tries to get a unit that works well. First unit had a very loud rapping noise and housing vibrated. Turned out to be a cracked exhaust fan wheel. Looked like fan was accidentally drilled with hole through a couple of blades and resulted in fan cage cracking. Unit worked great otherwise with cold air. Called Amazon service and got a replacement unit. Second unit arrived covered with oil and oil stain inside of box. Knew right away refrigerant had leaked. Further investigation showed housing was cracked in multiple locations. Appeared unit suffered impact on one side even though shipping box didn't have evidence of damage. Called Amazon service again and another replacement was ordered. Return of the previous two units picked up by UPS as arranged by Amazon. Showed the importance of keeping the shipping boxes and packing material in case products needed to be returned. Third unit arrived and working great, 50 deg. air discharge at 80 deg. inlet, good strong airflow, noise level at highest fan speed around 55dba ear level 6 feet away. Important to insulate discharge hose to keep heat from radiating from hose and move most of the heat out window. Shout out to Amazon Service for their assistance on replacement of units. No hassle, professional, and timely response.
