This book is an easy going introduction to music theory rather than a piano tutorial.very helpful for getting started with relating chords to melody.Not a piano tutorial in the usual sense which is why i only gave a rating of four stars.

I bought this book as a gift for a beginner. It discusses, as advertised, the basics - chords, music notation, etc.However, there are frequent typos throughout. Notes are sometimes given incorrectly - a G where there's meant to be a C, for instance. This is confusing as, barring the occasional odd repeat of a paragraph or sentence, the writing style seems confident and informed.Overall, the book has good content. But I will not be giving it to a beginner as a gift. The bizzare mistakes in an otherwise orderly book make it far too confusing for anyone without prior experience.

This is an absolutely amazing piano book. I didn't know anything about playing the piano (I actually started with the keyboard first) and I know I can play very confidently and it's been around 3 weeks or so. Love it!The book starts by explaIning all the fundamentals you need to know in an easy to understand language and then it proceeds explaIning practical examples with clear explanations. The book is very easy to understand, the instructions are clear and it's obvious it has been very carefully thought out so that the step by step learning process is as easy as possible.Usually it takes me a long time to learn a new skill but this time around I was able to get a hang of things very quickly. And this book has a lot to do with it, on the other hand I might just be super talented at playing the piano but I doubt it haha. I mean, I'm not completely tone deaf but I am no mozart either hah.I always loved music (who doesn't) and was always attracted to the idea of playing a musical instrument but I never got around to it. I'm usually always busy with my studies and my job so any free time I get I like to socialize and have some fun. So on hand I always wanted to learn the play the muSical instrument but then on another hand I wanted to socialize and have some fun until I realized that learning how to play a piano is actually super fun, at least for me.It started of slow because I didn't know anything about playing the piano and in I was a bit afraid that I might just give up after a few weeks since I do have a tendency to sometimes not finish the things I start; when picking up a new skill, trying to lose weight etc. I start of being very motivated the first week but by the second or third week I lose my discIpline and slowly do less and less of what I intended to do.This book was of great help, taught me everything that I needed to know and very quickly I was able to become very competent at playing the piano and now I spend an hour a day playing around and I absolutely love it. This is my new found passion and I'm super happy to have found this book to help me on my journey.

I was looking at so many piano music books and I’m so happy I finally decided to get this one. The lessons are very easy to follow and the book is very practical and I know how to play piano now in under 1 month 🙂. I’d say it’s the the easist piano course book I found. In the beginning the author explains how to go about learning piano, shares a bit of theory but then practical examples and exercises begin which really helped me to master the basics very fast. After then gradually new lessons are introduced which I enjoyed as well and working on mastering at the moment. I still struggle with more advanced concepts but practice makes perfect and I should get there eventually. For now, I want to learn a few Christmas songs to impress my family when they come around in december, so far so good, I’m on the right track haha
