solid and light. Great for carving, beveling, and for smaller stamps were just a tap will do without blowing through your leather. It definitely has it's place amongst my other mauls. I tooled for 3 hours straight without fatigue

I bought a cheap starter kit that was $40 so I wasn't out of a lot of money if I decided tooling wasn't for me. Even though the mallet was off balance and the tools felt as if they'd break with the lightest touch, I fell in love with the art immediately. I decided to upgrade and the difference is night and day. This maul is worth every penny and then some. It's easy to use and the sturdiness is so much better than the cheap one I threw in the garbage 10 minutes ago. In hindsight, I'll get a lot more value for money out of this bad boy.
