Dorothy's Ruby Red Wizard of Oz Slipper Shoes for Kids

Purchased these as a surprise Christmas present for my niece. Turns out her mom purchased the exact same pair! Fit true to size. Glitter glitz and sparkle makes for a happy little girl!

This has become one of our GGDaughters favorite shoes. She loves the bling and the color.

They're adorable and perfect for my daughter. She wears them all the time. The little heel isn't too much, the glitter sheds some but not too much, and a size 9 leaves just enough growing room so we can hopefully wear them for at least a year.

These could not be more perfect for a Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) costume. My daughter loved them! Yes, they do shed a bit, but it was not evident on the shoe itself (only noticed based on the trail of glitter we found around the house). The straps are a bit hard to fasten, but we didn't really mind. And, she's worn them many times, well beyond Halloween. She has a very high tolerance for shoes that don't fit if she really likes them, so I can't speak to whether or not they were comfortable - she'd never say otherwise. I sized up and that worked well for us (she normally wore a 12 and I bought a 13). These shoes really made her Dorothy costume - she looked awesome!

These shoes are very cute! They are truly glittery and built solidly. The soles are a tan rubber with grip so the shoes won't slide out from under you. They are very stiff and seem to run about one size small. My daughter wears a size 12 and the size 13 fits perfectly with her toes near the tip of the shoe. I ordered a size 1 and added insoles to them, so the shoes would last a bit longer and this worked out fine. My daughter LOVED them and wanted to wear them immediately. First I wanted to secure the glitter as it does seem somewhat "unsealed" as though it could come off especially in areas where the shoes bend, or in the toe area.I mistakenly took the advice of one of the reviewers to use gloss "Mod Podge" on the shoe to secure the glitter. Although the Mod Podge definitely seems to seal the shoe BE WARNED that it instantly dulls the metallic quality of the glitter! The shoe with no Mod Podge brilliantly sparkled, while the one with the sealant looked covered with a shiny coat of plastic and lost all it's sparkle. I ended up giving the shoes a second coat of Mod Podge and immediately dousing them in red glitter (while the spray was still wet) and patting it down with my fingers. This brought back the sparkle and sealed the glitter beneath. So far the glitter is holding but shoes only have light wear. Use Mod Podge/sealant at your own risk - it completely changes the look of the shoes! It may be a better idea to patch bald spots as needed using this method, than to dull the shoe overall. If you are not concerned with high sparkle, but more with setting the glitter tightly then use this method. Your shoe will be more glossy than glittery.

I needed a kid size shoe with a heel to make Ruby Slippers for an indoor Halloween Oz display. Using the original 1939 movie design, I cut off the straps and adhered red sequins and Swarovski rhinestones to the shoes. I got rid of the original bows and made my own that resemble actual bows from the MGM costume department.You can see the before and after pic I've included. The original shoe is on the right and the sequined Ruby Slipper is on the left. It only tool 5 hours per shoe, but the effect was SO worth the time....as you can see from the finished products in the 2nd photo. They look like they stepped off of the big screen to take a Halloween journey down the Yellow Brick Road.

My 3 year old toddler loves these shoes and won’t take them off! The heel is the perfect height, and so far, they’re holding up nicely. We had to return to get a size down, but we have a long and narrow foot. Would highly recommend!
