We use it to close a 15 lb heavy plastic bag of dog food. Sometimes we get a 10 lb bag, it works for that too. I'm pretty sure it would work on a larger bag. It's strong and closes securely. It releases by pressing a button/ latch on the end. Having hand strength issues, sometimes I can't squeeze a spring loaded 'chip clip' type, but this is always very easy. It comes in a few colors, I just got red because it was the cheapest by several dollars.If you want air tight or need to keep ants out, put your dog's food in an air tight container. This does close tightly, but it's just for closing the bag. The brands we buy have micro perforations or tiny punched holes in the bag, so air tight is not going to happen with any clip.We've used Twixits for, gosh, over twenty years I think. My mom got some in a big jar at an organizing store and they still work great, except for the ones that have wandered away over the years. We've both gotten the new fresh colors, her original ones were primary colors. I wish this big clip had been available in something like lime green. This big one is a different construction, it's hard plastic with an actual hinge, but still the same concept.Two things to note:1. It is huge, as long as your foot or a big baby's arm. I knew the dimensions of it and was still a bit taken aback when I opened the box.2. See the black wavy piece in the middle? That is the ingenious part! It's removable! It's held in by the pressure of the wavy design. If you have a larger bag or have trouble closing it, just pull that piece out. To pop it back in, just push the waves as needed to get it back in, it's like a gentle spring. I tend to clip a corner of the bag, so even on a larger bag I often leave the wave in. The only problem is that the wavy piece on all colors of this clip is black, I so wish it was a bright color because I know it will get lost if I don't tuck it on the shelf next to the dog food.

I gifted the large bag clip with an 18 gallon bag of popcorn to my sister and she informed me the clip was perfect for the huge bags the popcorn came in.Two thumbs up. I highly recommend for huge bags.

We have 2 large dogs, and I have been searching for an effective way to keep the dog food bags closed tightly. Although this is a good clip, it is not large enough to close the bags of dog food we buy. I'm also not sure that it keeps the tops closed well enough to keep air out of the bags. It was OK for the 16 pound bags, but it didn't work well for the 26 pound bags.However, it stays put once it's closed and would probably be good for other applications.

this thing is a piece of junk, and it's too small. I see several other reviews saying this "works perfectly" for big bags of pet food. I'm using it for a 10 pound bag of cat food and even that is proving to be a struggle. I've only just started using it and I've already seen it snap off the package by itself due to being unable to stand the pressure. and this clip is most definitely not even close to air tight. you have to fold the bag in order to fit the clip and not let out any air. it is better than using multiple small clips, but it's not a clean solution. unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a product out there that is capable of doing such a simple job so I guess this will have to do, but I'm absolutely not happy about it.

I bought this to help seal open dog food bags, as the velcro doesn't usually seal tight enough. Saw this while browsing and figured it was worth a try. The first one arrived broken but another was quickly shipped and it is working great to seal the air out of the bags!

After reading the (mostly) rave reviews about this clip I ordered it and was hopeful it would do the trick. It did not. I hated it. If I fold the small 5lb bag flap over too much the clip wouldn't stay closed and would fly open and fall off. If I folded the bag over so it wasn't as thick the clip would slide right off. Annoying. Someone had pointed out the shortcomings of this clip in another review but said they had solved it by putting a bamboo skewer inside the clip. When I did this the stupid clip wouldn't even close. Maybe I just got a defective one but I absolutely hated this clip. I will use a cannister, a food grade bucket or a giant rubber band. This clip was terrible.

Not much to say about this. It is a very big clip and exactly what I was looking for. It is larger than expected and works great on the dog food bag. It is easy to use and I would buy it again!
