Happy with purchase -- Wear a Women's 11, Bought a Men's Medium -- Perfect
I stubbed my pinky toe very hard, potentially fracturing the long bone in my foot (pending x-ray today) and needed a low profile bootie to take the pressure off as I walk and to protect the toe from reinjury (which happened on an ottoman leg shortly after the first incident). This bootie totally did the trick. It stays on well, isn't too clunky, and gives me the piece of mind/protection I needed. I wear a women's size 11 and got a men's medium based on US shoe size conversion chart (found online through a simple Google search). Fit perfectly -- enough to room to leave a lip that will hit a wall before my toe does, but not so much room that the shoe looks enormous. I would definitely recommend this bootie.

I was expecting a softer shoe. More gel like! Perhaps after surgery "these" since I ordered 2 may come in handy some time down the road. So in my closet they will remain until someone I know breaks something on their foot or I think perhaps I could use them. I honestly purchased these 2 Herman Muenster type shoes to keep my spine level and in tact since I am limping now and I'm concerned about yet another problem. Back issues. I'm going to say no to this product!

The size of shoe you need is crucial.
These are generally not the most comfortable shoes, but they're ok for off loading a wound. My only issue was that the insert was not quite the same length as the shoe. Luckily it was smaller and not larger, so I am able you use it.

Darco Med-surg shoe
The black liner that comes with the shoe is really not very good. It chaffs and rubs in all the wrong places.

Great replacement for surgical boot
This is a well made, adjustable and comfortable product to get out of a surgical boot and still protect the foot (if your doctor approves). Makes getting around so much easier. My tip: Buy a size or more larger to accommodate the bandages so they don't hang off the end !!

I wear women's 9.5-10 size and bought the mens medium which fits just fine with about 3/4-1 inch left in front of the toe box which suits me fine as I do not want to stub my toes. I was not going to buy this product bec I figured all post-op flat soled shoes would feel about the same. I am glad I read the reviews and bought this shoe. It is way more comfortable to walk around in than the one the hospital provided after my surgery.

useless !
That shoe is USELESS to me.It has NO ROCKER SOLE. The sole is flat (but they used to make them concave years ago which is probably why sellers still have the pictures and the descriptions). The sole is also SOFT not rigid.Well it's not super soft, it's pretty hard for a regular shoe, but for a post-op it's soft.I have a great toe injury. I can't move the toe, can't put pressure on it.When "walking" in a flat soled shoe I have to keep my whole leg stiff and sort of shuffle and lean heavily on my cane. Or I can use crutches (which the hospital did not provide and I had to buy myself. Just like the decent cane, they gave me a wooden curved handled "balance cane")So I could've gotten the same "support" had I just bought a stiff soled teva sandals. With the added benefit of having two of the same shoes! On the other hand, when I walk in a stiff soled shoe with a solid rocker bottom (imagine certain fitness shoe with a very concave sole, from the 3 letter company, BMT or something) I can bend my knee and even my ankle and walk with a pretty normal gait leaning on the cane just a little.(I know that because I made myself a shoe like this!)So if you only need the thing to accommodate a dressing and be open toed that maybe you will be better off just buying some teva sandals (and some Velcro straps to extend the original straps with if your dressing is huge and you're worried that the original straps will be too short). Those sandals come in many different styles and some soles are a lot stiffer that others. And of course you can use the sandals after your injury!!!I am upset with the company making the sue and the seller for getting me misinformed about this product.Lesson learned: ALWAYS check with a manufacturer before buying anything!
