The best smart plug you can buy!
This is the new smart plug from Philips Hue and it's the best plug I have used (having used Hive and Amazon's), Philips have made it as accessible as possible by the addition of Bluetooth so you don't require an expensive hub to use (unlike other manufactures). Once plugged in you just open the Hue app, click search, add the device and you are ready to rock and roll, so simple and easy to use. Also a small point but also valid is that it is very small can compact. It is £10-15 more expensive that the competition but in my opinion it is well worth paying the extra. The good:- Simple to set up- Easy to set up timers- Perfect if you already have a- Uses Bluetooth as well as Zigbee so you don't need a hub!- Small and discreteThe Bad:- Pricier than the competitionIf you are interested in a smart plug or are already integrated into the Philips Hue ecosystem then look no further, you won't find a better smart plug.Should you buy it? YES!

Perfect for Christmas tree lights in a smart light enabled home.
Integrates flawlessly with our existing smart light setup. We got this to control the lights on our Christmas tree as having a toddler means it is essential that the socket is tucked away but that then makes it awkward to switch on and off.We have six hue lights in our living room already and a dimmer switch controlling them. Adding the socket, registering it with the app, and linking it to the room took around 45 seconds. Now when we put the room lights on and off, the tree is included. We can control the tree separately through an echo dot or mobile app easily enough.Once Christmas is over we will retask the smart socket for some decorative lamps in the nursery which can’t be fitted with hue bulbs. After testing other brands and being disappointed with the lag experienced, I am delighted that this switch actuates instantly.

Adds huge versatility to your Hue range - control more of your home remotely & through the app
Interesting and very handy addition to our by now wide range of Hue lamps. This smart plug allows you to virtually connect any lamp, or electric device, to your wifi-driven Hue set up.The smart plug is very easy to install if you are familiar with the Hue app. You can just search for the plug in the 'light set up' section in Hue Settings after you have turned its power on. Following that you can add it to rooms and/or routines. The smart plug makes your home and electric devices very versatile. In theory you can connect your coffee maker (so that you'll have fresh coffee in the morning), or tv (to avoid the children turning it on e outside of certain hours) or maybe even chargers (so that they don't constantly charge decides) to it. Or if you active the 'home away' function in the app you can turn your home to life remotely.I'm a big fan fo the Hue range, the lamps and devices are generally of good quality. I've had my first Hue lamps for or 3 years now and despite being on for a good part of the day I never had to replace them. So its generally good value for money.I'm slightly less enthused about the app, its straightforward and generally intuitive, but handling lamps, rooms, routines that all relate to each other it a bit confusing at times. But would still highly recommend it to any homeowner.

Best of the smart plugs
The smart plug to rule all smart plugs. I’ve been using wemo plugs for years, while they started off as market leaders in home automation they’ve fallen behind and more (finally!) Philips has come to sort this mess out! These plugs work great from the offset, work perfectly with my Apple HomeKit setup (so all the plugs aren’t in the Wi-fi) and have integrated seamlessly with my routines. The only thing that’s strange about them is the fact they say you should only plug lamps into them... which seems crazy. Anyway, these truly are great plugs and for the first time It’s possible to access the plug socket next to these if you plug them in on a strip.

Misleading marketing information
This needs a separate Hue bridge to work with Google Home. It is not clear from the description that this is required. So buying a £30 Hue plug will actually cost £70 if you don't already have a bridge.

Like all Philips hue.... well made and good quality
Very easy to install like all Philips hue products, I seem to have everything Philips hue now and can’t beat the quality of them. This was used for a extractor fan in my bathroom, after a recent bathroom upgrade I changed all the lights to gu10 bulbs, only problem being is I had an extractor fan wired into the old lighting. I didn’t want any switches in my bathroom so did a fair bit of research and found the best option was to change the extractor fan to a plug then use this plug with it so it now works with my lights.A fair bit of faffing about and expense but well worth it and glad I did it

love the adjustment for UK sockets with the switch usually being in the way
The fact that these plugs have a little distance-keeper between actual socket and the plug, so the UK power switch for all sockets is not in the way is an absolute winner. i tried so many different brands and usually they are all overlapping and blocking the on/off switch of the UK sockets. Some of them in a way that leaves the switch in a scary "not off but not on either" position which literally screams short-circuit at you.One thing I do not understand: why does Hue not update their app and makes them an actual power plug, but considers them a "light", also allowing you to set light scenes. Sometimes it really makes you wonder whether things are being thought-through properly or just quickly expensive new products being thrown out without updating the app accordingly.

Simple set up.
Used to add automation to some 'dumb' plinth LED lights and under cupboard lights in kitchen. Paired with a Hue motion sensor the lights now come on as people walk into the kitchen.Usual Philips Hue easy set up and install. I've now used Hue products for a couple of years, over time moving more and more of the lights to Hue. Whilst expensive they have so far proven reliable and I havent had to replace any due to failures. I'd anticipate adding more as time goes on. The App is easy to use (available on iOS and Android I use the latter) and integrates with Google home smart speakers.
