Maple candy
A tiny bit crispy on the outside. The middle falls apart on the tongue.

I simply love this maple sugar
Oh my, I simply love this maple sugar! It is absolutely delicious. It is just maple syrup in sugar form, in the shape of small candies. Think of it as maple sugar, instead of candy, and it makes more sense. If you love real maple syrup -- you'll love this. But if you don't like real maple syrup, and like the maple-flavored sugar imitations better -- this probably won't be for you. Our family grew up on real maple syrup, whenever we could get it, Mom always said the real stuff was healthier for us, she was right. I actually love this more than chocolate! (most of the time!) If I get a craving for something sweet, I can break one of these little maple leaves into about 3 pieces, and slowly eat 1/3 of a piece, for very few calories, and it doesn't leave me craving more and more, like chocolate does. I'm just content with a small piece. Pure maple syrup/sugar has a lot of trace minerals, that regular sugar doesn't, not even agave or honey packs in minerals like maple syrup, not even close. I just wish this company sold bigger boxes of this! Absolutely delicious! Thank you to Butternut Mountain Farms, for making such a wonderful product, and for this lovely treat. I've made this box last two weeks, sort of rationing it out, and I'm going to have to order more!

Just needs the little people shapes like they used to have
This is great, the box is a regular paper or whatever with a clear plastic window just like in the farmer's market, only here the candies are more fresh because they are not exposed to air and the sun or sitting out on display. I just ordered one, I am into nutrition but I wanted to check them out again and they are perfect. These candies come in little shapes like women with old style dresses and men with top hats as well which I used to enjoy as a kid. Buying these came from when I was trying to use my food stamp ebt card here on Amazon, I could not get any real food such as Yeast, Buckwheat flour, just candies for some reason, hopefully Amazon will fix the problem, I do not use a mask so I am unable to purchase food from the grocery store. The mask causes health problems and I am not worried about any illness created by some rumor.

Yummy!
I love maple sugar. These are mostly soft-ish and crystally inside and kinda crunchy outside. The flavor is naturally mapley, not bitter. Don't expect this natural candy to taste just like any maple syrup you can buy - it is mellower. I like to leave them in the box and then take and nibble on one or two at a time as a special treat. Great with tea. A better value here than purchasing this type of product in our local natural food store. Arrived in great shape. It must depend on what was packed with it or maybe the weather, because I order these often and never have issues with packing or damage. Maybe very humid and hot weather plus a long delivery time could effect this candy's quality, like with all candies.

This is delicious!
I was hesitant to order maple sugar candy online, but finally took the plunge with this small 4.5 oz box. My concern was that I like flavorful foods, and I had previously purchased a different brand of maple sugar candy in a store, and it tasted like regular sugar and not much maple. The Butternut Mountain Farm maple sugar candy has very good maple flavor!I had read other reviews about the candy coming out of the box during shipment. The box it comes in has a little round clear seal that is supposed to hold the flap shut. On the box I got, that seal had come unstuck from the box portion and was stuck around the bend in the flap. The bit of adhesive on the box indicates that the box was originally sealed, and had come unsealed. In the box I received, there was some padding a good enough fit between the box of candy and the shipping box that the candy stayed in its box - a few were just jumbled up a bit.The candy itself deserves an absolute full 5 stars. The 4 star rating is due to the need for a better means of ensuring the flap on the box stays shut during shipment. It appears to need stronger adhesive on the seal and/or a larger seal having more surface area on the box, so it doesn't come unstuck. The candy is so flavorful I'm ordering another box, though it would be nice if it were available in a larger size. It's delicious!Update: The second box I received stayed shut as it should, and the pieces of maple sugar candy stayed in their own individual sections. Maybe the adhesive on the clear round seals is stronger now, and keeps the box flaps tucked in and closed as they should. In any case, this second box is great all around, and deserves 5 stars.

Hard, AWFUL, VERY DISAPPOINTING. NOT FRESH. CRISPY DRY, should be texture of fudge.
I spend 1st-8th grade in New Hampshire/Vermont area. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE candy were these maple leaf real maple candies. They had a very thin outer layer of crystaline sugar about as thin as a piece of paper, under that though was PURE HEAVENLY melt in your mouth finer, delicate fudge like candies. I was a skinny kid. I could eat a box in a day. But I never did. I make that last 2 months as the flavor was SO special to me. I am a grandmother now. I had a surgery that altered how some foods taste. Chocolate didn't taste like chocolate for years. So, I remembered my fondness of this candy, found it on Amazon-Not in MN, and could bare wait for my special candy to arrive. They were like sugar bricks. I was sad. After finding they nearly hard as rock, I peeled some oranges, and dampened a paper towel and put it all in the box with the candies hoping it would bring SOME moisture back. I figures hint of orange w/ maple is still a good flavor. It did soften them a tiny bit. A total of 2 of them had a pea size center that was soft so I got a little hint of the real thing. I don't dare order these again. It's more upsetting to get them and have them be the opposite of what they should be, than not having any at all. I will try the larger big 1 leaf to see if perhaps they are more popular and not 10 years old dry rocks. The thin little layer or crystaline sugar is normal if it's paper thin. I like that part. It reminds me of creme brulee where you have to break thru the outer shell to get to the creme :)
