Not working as advertised (yet?)
I've been trying to make clear spheres using one of these kits. My spheres come out clear on the outside but have numerous streaks inside that extend from top to bottom. The streaks look a lot like they're composed of tiny bubbles. I've attached a couple of photos.I've been using hot (distilled) water. I fill and assemble the kit as directed and leave it in the freezer for 24-26 hours. Interestingly enough, the ice that forms at the bottom of the insulated container is perfectly clear. The freezer is set to 0.Any suggestions? Many people seem to be pleased with this product, so I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

Lives up to its name
This product works exactly as described - it really does produce crystal clear ice balls, and the setup is completely hassle free. When you need to remove the plastic insert to either clean it or reset the mold for another round, however, that's a different story. It's absurdly difficult to pry the insert out, although it's not enough of a deal breaker for me to dock a star. If that doesn't bother you much, then enjoy it otherwise, as it's an excellent product that works far better than most others. I'll also add that I think I prefer this version over the various 4-ball configurations found on Amazon, as this is much easier to fit in and around a freezer.

Best clear ice maker I own!
This is the best clear ice maker that I own (and I own several!). Super high quality materials, really easy to use and it makes perfectly clear ice balls. Getting the best results for me - using fairly warm water, closer to what I would consider "hot" and leaving it in the freezer for longer than the instructions call for. I leave mine in for a full 48 hours and they come out great! You could probably get away with 40...

CLEAR ICE!!!!
This product does exactly what it said it does. Makes crystal clear ice. I would say my ice came out 99% clearVery impressive. Works as well or better than the competitor at 1/3rd the price. Nothing to figure out here, don't need to start with hot water or distilled water or any tricks. I used cold water right from the fridge. I will say however that I placed this is the Garage freezer which doesn't get very much use. I mention this because I understand that very still water will freeze more clearly. and if you put this in a place where you're jolting it by opening the freezer or fridge door constantly, it may or may not affect how clear the ice turns out. Make sure you give it at least 24 hours probably 30. I pulled mine out just a tad too early and the last 10% at the bottom hadn't properly frozen yet. This is understandable as that last 10% is the most insulated.

No way this really works, but I need to try it...
Okay, so I am one that really enjoys the little things in life. Clear ice happens to be one of them. I love when I go out to eat and my whiskey on the rocks come with a single large cube or ball. I thought, my gosh, how in the heck do they get these so clear?!? I did a bit of research and the only way that was proven to make clear ice at home was to freeze a tray of ice and then use a hot blade to cut off the edges and reveal the clear center (I like ice, but not that much).Along comes a day of searching Amazon for random stuff instead of doing what I should be, when I stumble on this. I debate it for a week or so [could this really work? no way, the research says it shouldn't. Maybe if I use boiled filtered condensate? no, thats too much work]. Finally I buy the thing.IT WORKS!Clear ice every time. I can't be more thrilled. You put in the freezer and it takes 24 hours before you can remove the cubes, but when they come out they are actually clear cubes! The only downside is that the contraption takes up a good amount of space in the freezer and you only get two cubes out of it, but that being said, I am now making two at a time and storing them in my ice tray. Thinking I may need to invest in the ball mold as well (let the internal debate restart)!

Hallelujah - I finally have clear balls
After years of trying (and failing), I have finally found a fool proof way to make clear ice balls. It is easy to use and the results are consistent; nice, clear ice balls every time.My only minor complaint, the instructions say to add water to the fill line, however I could not find anything resembling a fill line; I just added water to a level that seemed appropriate and it worked great. The ice balls themselves do not seem to melt evenly, but I don’t think this is related to the product. I need to do more research.

Doesn’t Make Clear Ice
What a disappointment. After reading some positive reviews I decided to pull the trigger on this product. I’ve made two batches so far and both are nothing close to clear after 27 hours. Batch one was made with warm tap city water batch two was made with filtered water that was boiled. Save your money and look elsewhere. If anyone has tips on how to get clear ice out of this thing I’m all ears. I’m going to try a few more batches and if I don’t get it they get any better it’s getting returned.

Have not got the hang of it but not giving up
Read the reviews where people say how they did this and just short of the moon spinning the correct speed and the winds/tides just right, you may get one where it does not crack immediately when you put it in a drink but I have not mastered that yet, lol. I have done it with RO water and set timers, etc. and the ice comes out spherical for sure, but every single one cracked immediately once a liquid hit it. I do love the spheres though and my goal is to get this to work for my bourbon. Lot of money, in my opinion, for something that is so finicky and I probably should have just bought a silicon mould and complained about that, but everything this comes with is top notch. I am not an expert, you might have better luck, but I was aware of others saying this happened and I also could never get clear ice- that beautiful sphere where there doesn't look like there is a cloud inside but probably more my luck than a fault with this item.

Crystal Clear Ice Ball
If you follow the instructions the results are very good. The ice is completely clear no bubbles. The ice ball itself is big and does melt slower because it has the smallest possible surface area. The container to make the ice is quite big and you will need a level shelf to set it on in the freezer as it is liquid which has to freeze slowly and then you have to take it out within the 24 - 36 hour period or they will over freeze. I have made a few over a week and kept them in a freezer bag to keep them for the weekend but they lose the crystal clear properties the longer you store them but they still look better than ordinary ice.It is an expensive way to make ice but I like it.

Excellent.
As close to crystal clear as you’ll get without an expensive machine. Much better than standard ice ball moulds I’ve used previously. You get some slight imperfections in the balls and a seam round the edge from the mould. I found I had a little trouble to stop them from thermal fracturing once out in a cold drink. To stop this let the ice warm up. Either leave in the fridge for an hour or at room temperature for a while. This will stop fracturing.

my balls are crystal clear
worth the additional expense to benefit from the aesthetics which in my view helps with creating the whole drink. Nice drink, nice glass, nice ice, perfect. 2nd attempt to hone it to perfection. I used hot filtered water, perfect glass like! no point in taking photo as you can't see them.

Improve packaging!
Sure the product is great but not happy with way packaged, in the fact it wasn't! Just in its own box! So arrived slightly damaged/dented, and as its meant as a gift makes worse. Also with prime sticker and address labels all over box, not exactly great either.

Really does create clear ice balls - about 2 inches wide.
Works very well indeed. One just has to get used to creating 2 at a time, storing them, and creating 2 more, again and again. Cleans and washes very well. Good quality materials.
