KAUKKO Vintage Casual Canvas and Leather Rucksack Backpack

I use this for school and out of school activities every day (for the last 3 months+). It keeps my laptop and books protected, and the bag itself shows no sign of damage. It looks great and feels good on the shoulders and back, even with a good amount of weight. I can fit my laptop, a few notebooks or binder, a thick folder, my lunch bag, and a pencil case with room to spare.

UPDATED 11/1/2017Contacted customer service and they are replacing the bag! Very happy with both the bag and customer service!My son loves the bag however, the magnet that holds the straps closed at the front came off so now he can't close the bag!

My teenager wanted another Herschel backpack. I purchased her one in the past, and for the life of me I don't get the appeal beyond the brand. We've been through Vera Bradley backpacks too.I found Kaukko while shopping for the Herschel here on Amazon. On paper it has double the pockets, all the style, and it's HALF THE PRICE.And then I read about Kaukko the designer. Good story, trying to get his brand going. So I went for it.It arrived in two days as advertised. And it's a really nice backpack. It's large and quite stylish. There's a spot for a laptop, and plenty of room for whatever else you want to throw in. Some of the reviews/answers said it could fit a few days worth of clothes. Before it arrived I would've never believed it. But she can use the bag for sleepovers or perfect for an airline under-the-seat bag.COLORS: The color options as shown are odd. "Navy" looks brown. "Black-1" looks navy.Wanting navy, I took a chance with the Black-1 color. It's a true dark denim - if any of you are old enough to remember buying Levi's 501s brand new in the store growing up, this is Black-1.I was honestly worried my daughter would turn her nose up to an off brand bag. But when I gave it to her, I said nothing. Just, "Oh you're backpack came in."She picked it up, examined it for a minute ans asked, "What's KOOKOH?" I told her Kaukko is the name of the designer, and he designs all his own bags, "cool, right?". She said he liked the bag and went about her day. No big thang.We'll see how it holds up to everyday high school use. But if you're hesitating buying this backpack, don't.

I bought this bag to bring to school and Its great for school. It holds a lot of books as while as my 15.6 inch laptop comfortably and without looking bulky when I bring it and the pads make for a comfortable wear and It has a lot of different compartments including hidden ones to hide things which is great for avoiding a thief. It was great in the beginning however after about four months of use one of the clips on the front that secure the straps broke off and one of the secret compartments which has velcro, the velcro is not stringy and tear off of the compartment. However apart from those minor faults it is a good bag.

Last night I noticed what looked like stains on the front of my pack, which was strange because the only food/beverages I ever had near this bag was a bottle of water. I noticed the stain was still there the next morning, which I assumed ruled out water, since the bag was canvas and water should have dried up easily. I tried blotting the stain with a wet paper towel when I noticed that the dye had completely rubbed off on my hands. The photo of my hand above is AFTER 1) thoroughly washing them with soap and water, 2) rubbing in hand sanitizer to try and break down the dye with alcohol, 3) rubbing with a Lysol wipe, 4) washing again using dish soap. I'm just grateful I never ended up wearing this pack in the rain or it would have completely ruined my clothes. Very disappointed. I don't understand how water could stain a canvas pack, unless the stain is actually from displacing the dye. The darker spots in the photo above are the original stains I noticed last night. The somewhat lighter swatch was after wiping with a wet paper towel and leaving to dry for 30 minutes.I was originally tempted to return this bag when I initially received it, because the color was advertised as black, but looked navy blue in person. Now after this incident with water causing the dye to bleed so much, I definitely will not be re-ordering from this brand.

The overall quality is good just too small for my son.
