ZIP SystemLiquid Flash | 20 oz. Sausage Pack | Weather-Resistant | Flashing Sealant (20oz Sausage)

Decided to re-side my garage with new 4 x 8 LP Smartside panels. Existing siding is also 4 x 8 plywood paneling in rough shape paint-wise but still pretty solid. There were a few spots where the old paneling was below grade and got moisture damaged. Basically the inch of siding that overhangs the slab. Not wanting to pull all the old paneling I decided to just go over it with new. I trimmed out the bad spots with a rotating tool and then used this to seal and flash the old paneling. Bought a sausage gun on Amazon as well as the angled tips. Amazed at how much easier sausage guns are to use compared to the traditional caulking guns. I watched a YouTube video of a guy using a similar product called Procoso R-Guard Fast Flash. I didn’t like that it was pink/red. I was going to buy them from Amazon and noticed this as a recommended product. I like that it’s black, especially since in my case the bottom of it will be visible on the slab that is exposed and above grade around my garage. I fixed the grade around the garage and then used light green 3m Rough masking tape about an inch below the old panel so I could pull it and get a straight line when I was done. Worked really well. This stuff will stick to about anything. I ran a bead on the underside lip of the panel, also on the very bottom face of the panel (about 1.5 inch), and also the exposed slab below the overhanging panel. Then used a chip brush to spread it just like the video I watched for the other product. Basically creating a painted on Z flashing. Again very happy with the result.I did this in Nebraska in June which was high 80s and 90s temps over two weekends and pretty humid. No issues with not sticking. I did sand the old panels with a power sander where this stuff was going so I could remove all the peeling paint and have a good surface for it to adhere to. Stuff is very sticky. Use nitrile gloves, lots of them. And wear old crappy clothes.I did one side of the garage at a time. Stuff starts to skin over within an hour, it’s still very tacky, and you can keep painting on more if you’d like. Pulled the tape at the bottom once I finishing painting a full side of the garage and it had started to skin. Tape comes off no issue and flash falls back into place with a fairly clean line. Basically feels like a tacky rubber after it dries.I’m happy to find a solution for flashing the bottom sill in my unique situation on an old garage where the mud sill is sitting right on the slab. It’s sealing all the cracks from pests, making the sill more air tight, and water proofing all at the same time.The uneven parts I had where I cut away the rotted parts of the plywood were no issue to seal with this as it sticks to anything you paint it on. The only question unanswered for me at this point is how long will it last? Tube says 30 years but I never understand how a product just coming to market can know that?I did try using the plastic spreader on one side as that is how Zip shows to put it on. I bought cheap yellow automotive ones from Amazon. But found in my case with the overhang of the panel, it was easier to use a 1inch chip brush. The plastic spreaders may be great for doing mud sill boards before installing on new construction but again in my unique application they weren’t the best.Plan to run 1x4 PVC Water boards on the bottom, over this liquid flash to make my new panels sit 6 inches above grade like they are supposed to. Hope is the bottom exterior edge won’t rot out on me by using this and PVC boards. Time will tell.I ordered from the Huber 3rd party reseller and each tube came inside a sealed plastic bag. Might be worth ordering your tubes without other products that can poke holes in the tubes just in case. Mine were all new tubes that wasn’t expired.My garage is 22’ x 18’ and I ordered 11 tubes not knowing how much I’d end up using. I probably could have bought 8 and been fine for what I did.

Used for concrete window sills. Stays tacky for quite awhile after dry ( 2nd install was 20 hrs.) earliest dry enough to install was over 2 hrs (72deg, low humidity). Great product overall.

I am using Zip liquid flashing in conjunction with Zip system panels and tape flashing on my new tight home build. This fluid applied flashing has been great for flashing my window pans and the edges of zip sheathing at window or door openings and sealing the footer / mudsill to the foundation.Purchasing it in the sussage tube is a big time saver and reduces waste. I've found the sussage tube to also be cheaper here on Amazon over plastic tubes or sussage tubes elsewhere online.I would definitely reccomended warming the sussage tubes to 60 or 65 degrees before applying. You will find that it applies easier, smoother and further when warmed. I also found a notched "Henry" brand trowle / spreader that closely matched the required minimum application thickness. This trowle was a game changer in the application process.If you are looking for a fluid applied exterior flashing product, I would certainly not hesitate in using the Zip Liquid Flashing. My house is still a "construction war zone" and the cured product is holding up to the ongoing work, without concern for spot checks or touch up.Bonus, can be applied to wet surfaces and the VOC or chemical smell is rather light plus aromatic.

Great size if you have a smaller job and only regular caulking guns. I didn't have an expensive sausage caulking gun so I purchased this size for a smaller job. Came with the screw on tip btw.

Got this after hours of research for most protective and robust sealant for skylights. One had leaked while the house was unoccupied for a significant stretch. So far, this product has protected from leakage through at least two "raining cats n dogs" conditions. The acid test will be how it has held and protected a year from now. Hopefully, I can remember to update then (of course, if it fails, I won't need help remembering to update this rating 8( ).

water proofing my base anchor sill stud to the slab and this is a game changer then sealing the osb sheets to the framing studs at the bottom where the osb meets the slab. I used this 29 oz bottle with a Dewalt caulk gun and it is effortless with zero discomfort to my hands and wrist.

We used this product to air-seal a new house and waterproof the window sills. There are many areas that are very difficult to tape, yet are too exposed for spray foam to last. Our solution was to use tubes of this throughout the house. We also used this on all the window sills, which worked out well since we had a window that was broken in transport and was taped off when installed. During a rain storm, water got around the tape and sat on the sill for 2 days before being wiped up. No water penetrated this product and got onto the wood sill. Because of this, we are confident that if water somehow makes it past the window caulking in the future, it will either sit on this product till it evaporates or hit the drywall and be noticed quickly (no hidden rot potential). It is also very tough once cured. I watched an installer slide a window across the sill and put a slit in the cured product. After I mentioned this, we both looked at the slit and realized that it was partially healing itself (and it didn't go all the way to the wood). This product worked great as an air seal and allowed us to seal many places we couldn't figure out how to previously. It is easy to use, however I recommend the Milwaukee 29oz caulk gun set to 2 or 3 if you are going to use it much (do not set higher unless you want to figure out really quick how to fully disassemble and clean the caulk gun). It also cleans up well with standard acetone or mineral spirits (so don't set the gun to 5 and think you will be done faster). All in all, this is a great product and I keep finding new ways to use it.

I liked how easy it was to use.

Good product, but it's very expensive almost not payable for big project.
