I'm sure that this is a fabulous cake lifter. But I don't really use it to lift cakes. It's effectively my kitchen forklift, mega bench scraper hybrid. Here's why I love it:- You will use this in place of tiny bench scrapers to transport piles of onion, tomatoes, or other chopped foods. Smaller bench scrapers require multiple passes, but this mammoth scraper gets the job done in one swipe.- Comfortable silicone grip. My big gripe with a lot of smaller bench scrapers is the metal handle can be slippery or uncomfortable. Not so with the Wilton Cake Lifter (that I do not use to lift cakes). The angle of the handle is just right, too, allowing for just the leverage you want to ensure no onion is left behind.- It is HUGE. 8 square inches of space. You could lift cakes with this thing.- Durable. High quality = NO RUST.- Sharp, thin edge - but not too sharp or too thin. It's the Goldilocks of edges. Sharp enough that you can cleanly scrape your work surface, but not flimsy. Sharp but not so sharp that you'll cut yourself.Do yourself a favor and add this to your kitchen tools collection. I promise you'll find it incredibly useful.

Un indispensable pour celles qui travaillent la pâte à sucre. Cela évite d'abimer le gâteau lorsqu'on le déplace du plateau tournant (pour le travail du glaçage) vers son plat de présentation. J'aurai préféré 1 à 2 cm de plus au niveau de la profondeur et 1 cm de plus en largeur mais cela reste un très bon produit.

I used this cake lifter for the first time today, and it performed just as good as you'd expect. In the past, I used one or two really large spatulas to move a cake. Not ideal, but it worked. This performs even better. No complaints at all from me.
