Takes a few days, but works well
First of all, be aware that there are several variations of Dermalex. This is a review of the most generic type, which is for "Hand Irritation" and "treats contact eczema symptoms: dryness, redness and cracked skin".I have had eczema of various types for years, but have usually had itchy raised bumps that as long as I don't scratch them (ha, try not scratching something so itchy!) respond well to a mild steroid cream and go away again. Unfortunately, I now also have very badly cracked and bleeding skin on my fingers, probably caused by the constant handwashing that's necessary in the COVID world. No matter how mild a hand wash I use, I can't keep my hands moisturised enough to stop my fingers drying out, then cracking and bleeding, so I needed a cream better than the usual hand creams but I didn't want to use a steroid cream when my hands had open cracks (sorry for the detail!)...This cream is very thick, definitely nowhere near a liquid formula. This means that you could end up using quite a lot of it if you're not careful. However, it also means that it's easy to apply just to the areas that are really dry. It absorbs reasonably easily and seems to last through one gentle wash of the hands, but it will need reapplying several times a day at least for the first few days (the directions suggest applying a thin layer 2-3 times a day, but also says "always re-apply the cream after washing your hands, showering or bathing", so not sure how you reconcile those two! I ended up applying more like 4-5 times on the first day or two and then 2-3 times for the rest of the week). With a week of reasonably diligent application, the skin on my hands improved to the point where normal hand cream would suffice to maintain the integrity of the skin. What really helped was applying it last thing at night and then putting those ridiculous cotton gloves on. You feel like a third-rate mime artist, but it really seems to make a difference. There are the usual warnings on the packaging about not storing it in direct sunlight, keeping it between 15 and 25 degrees, reading the instructions, using within 6 months of opening, etc. The manufacturer also recommends it not be used on children under 6, though I'm not really sure why it's unsafe for children 5 or younger.Although it seems unnecessary to have the tube sold in a cardboard box, it enables the instructions and ingredients to be included, and at least the cardboard box is recyclable. The tube itself doesn't have recycling information on it, which is a shame. This cream is not cheap, but it does work. I would definitely recommend cutting off the top of the tube after you think it's empty, as I got another 3-4 applications that way. It's cheaper buying it online than in high street chemists, costing only slightly more for 60g as I paid for 30g on the high street.

Fantastic!
I have dermatitis on my hands which gets incredibly sore from cleaning and washing my hands etc. I purchased this as I was desperate for anything to help. It is brilliant, after only using for a day my hands felt better and they look so much better than before. Yes it is expensive, but it's worth every penny!

Ok but not Great
I suffer from extremely dry hands whenever I wash dishes or wash my hands a lot. I also go to the gym often and my hands are really dry and chapped. This product works well but it leaves your hand feeling very strange. There is a lot of friction when you rub your hands together, if you know what I mean... I have opted for Palmers coca butter instead. The quantity and price point is too much

Worked for me
After going to the doctors to do a 10 day steroid cream treatment my allergic reaction calmed down but then came back again. I tried this product and continued using it on a daily basis. It has helped my hands become normal again. I went through 2 tubes so don't given up if you are seeing results. I applied it every time I washed my hands to keep the skin from going dry and flaking. Overall a great product and highly recomend this.

This cream works
My son has very bad eczema coupled with allergies to more than 10 different things since the age of 2 month, he's now 6 years old. I've tried all sort of creams, treatments, crying etc, you name it , we've done it. But nothing worked. Thanks God I bumped into this cream at boots, and it's a miracle but it is expensive. I would recommend it to anyone who suffers from this horrible skin problem that none takes seriously. My son said when we started using this cream: "mummy the other children play with me now, I have friends, they say my skin is smooth and good".

Dermalex Repair Allergic Reaction - Super Cream but Pricey
Had a nasty skin reaction on my neck from a necklace I wore and did not want to take antihistamines so gave this a try. It felt cooling and soothing when applied to the effected skin and I noticed an improvement on that area after just a day. One to keep in the first aid box more so if a sensitive skin sufferer in the family as seems to help stop any irritation and also promote healing of any already irritated skin. Love it but it does seem a bit pricey is the only thing I would say not so great about it. Have used other items in the Dermalex range previously and been pleased with the effects.
