Q: What the difference between this one and the original one?

The product is EXACTLY THE SAME as what is in our original 2 lb. containers, which are being phased out. These old containers would occasionally fail from rough handling during shipping. Our new containers are much stronger and more durable, have an easier to use flip-top cap, uses a much more descriptive/informative label, and contains 10% more product. We couldn't improve on Co-Mate itself, but we hope you enjoy the new look.

Q: What are the directions for use? Frequency and quantity?

Here are the usage guidelines on our new container: CHIMNEY CLEANING: Wood stoves, fireplaces and fireplace inserts: For the first 14 days, add 1 to 1.5 oz. (28-42 g) into the fire once per day. After 14 days, reduce to 0.5 to 1 oz. (14-28 g) every second day the system is in use. Pellet stoves and furnaces: For each 40 lb. bag of pellets, add 0.5 to 1 oz. (14-28 g) evenly over the top of the pellets in the hopper. Wood furnaces: Every second day of operation, add 2 to 4 oz. (56-112 g) into the fire. Reduce if needed to maintain efficiency. SYSTEM MAINTENANCE / OCCASIONAL USE: How much Co-Mate you need depends on the design and condition of your heating system, how often you use it, and the type and quality of your fuel. Co-Mate works best with regular use over time, so how often it is used is more important than the amount. Co-Mate is completely safe, even in large amounts, so feel free to experiment.
